I saw him going in for one play lol. NO CLUE why he is active over Drake Jackson.

I can't recall one play yesterday where I felt like our DL set a good edge. It was maddening to watch how easy Dallas was able to get outside.
Going against possibly the best Oline, time to see if our front 7 is really that good.

It's going to be extremely tough. I think this is the worst pass rush the 49ers have had since they've been in the playoffs under Shanahan. Teams feel comfortable sliding the center towards AA and chipping Bosa because nobody else is winning enough to worry about. In base, DJ Jones would give us good pressure and a sack or two every once in awhile when he got his 1-on-1 opportunities. Kinlaw doesn't give them anything. Literally nothing. In fact, I think he's a negative because it's such an easy assignment for a guard, so the other G+C can just focus on doubling Armstead.

On money downs, Willis/Omenihu/Ebukam have been okay but not not nearly as good as Ford/Defo in 2019 or Arden Key last year. Key was incredible down the stretch. He was absolutely killing teams when they left him 1-on-1.

What the 49ers are truly missing is that third impact pass rusher. It's something they should(need to) address this offseason.

I think the group performance is going to be the most important thing this Sunday. The guys are going to have to be disciplined and rush as a unit to keep Hurts caged in the pocket. This means everyone stays in their rush lanes, doesn't rush past the QB's drop and is selfless in their play, especially the guys charged with playing the overlapper role--plugging the A gaps and filling vacated rush lanes will be pivotal to stopping Hurts from stepping up and running downfield.

Our pass rush is doing just fine. Sacks are awesome, but pressure is a more reliable metric for how the line is doing.

Team pass rush win rate
1. Philadelphia Eagles, 52%
2. Dallas Cowboys, 52%
3. Miami Dolphins, 50%
4. Arizona Cardinals, 47%
5. San Francisco 49ers, 46%

Do you have these numbers for the playoffs? I am just curious because in spite of knowing Dak was uncomfortable all game on Sunday, I viewed that more as Dak not being very good than us applying constant pressure. I feel like the pressure was decent, but certainly not enough that it should have rattled a franchise QB.

This is what I found from PFF:

Offensive line spotlight: Despite the result, the Cowboys offensive line did its part. On first review, the gave up just five pressures — all hurries — from 40 pass-blocking snaps. The 49ers gave up nine hurries from 33 pass-blocking snaps.

It's been like these under Saleh and DR. Our de's always crash inside hard and don't contain. We never rush to contain a running qb. Hopefully they make some adjustments. Can't play like they did versus the Raiders

This is what I saw from just watching the game too, more of Dak making mistakes than our pass rush hitting home or pressuring.
It's going to be critical for the entire DL to stay in their lanes; rush to the QB's depth; play selflessly on slants, stunts and when they're tasked with being the overlapper.

I talked about this before, but with the proliferation of mobile QBs across the league, I believe Kocurek loves guys that can win with power because it allows the player to stay in their rush lane and cage in the QB. Power rushes like bull, push-pulls, forklifts, long arms, etc allow the end to stay in their rush lanes and avoid rushing past the QB's drop while speed rushes can be risky due to the space they create for QBs to escape through.

Bosa spending time giving the guys tip on power rushing

Did this unit get smacked around or what? 31 points. That has nothing to do with the QBs.

think after the injuries teh defense just gave up, they knew even if they stopped them all we could do on the offense end was just run every down. I thought they made enough plays today had we actually had a qb.

Given the amount of possessions the eagles had on offense it wasn't too bad.

The eagles were getting every ticky tac call from the refs also extending drives. After the first half it was just frustration showing up.

Coaching cost 14 of those points when the incompletion was not challenged and Josh Johnson was allowed to pass instead of just going ultra conservative when he came in. The fumble was on stupidity of trying to get the 4th string QB to run the two minute vs a 70 sacks team.

It definitely was not good but given the situation we could have been buried by 50 points. That would have been bad. The eagles had enough possessions to put up that much.
