It was a great game. Despite catastrophic injuries, we were just a mistake away from winning the game. This is a 9-12 win team.

Surprised by all the negativity. I don't know what people expected going up against the best defense and (maybe) best team in the NFL?

We missed plays, for sure. Better teams execute on those plays.

However, we had the ball with 2 min left in the game, on the road, in a home opener, with a chance to tie the game. We also had several excellent drives against an elite D. The play calling was incredible. The pass rush was effective. The rookie class was exceptional. Sherman was great.

This is the exact kind of game this team may look back at in 12 weeks when we're about to roll into the playoffs... knowing you have cleaned up many of your early season mistakes, and have the ability to take down a top team.

No logical person on this board can find a more difficult game to win on the schedule than this one.

I loved it.

We shot ourselves in the foot multiple times yet still were in contention until the end. I expected us to lose this game but the team played very well. Jimmy had a couple terrible throws. That pick 6 was dreadful. Can't do that. If only Kittle caught the pass right before that.

Defense was lights out for the most part. Buckner, Warner and Sherman stood out. Tartt missed a couple plays but also had some big plays too. Witherspoon gave up the TD but also had a nice PBU.

That fumble at the goal line f**ked us so bad, you can't do that on the road against a team as good as Minnesota

Part of me is optimistic. The other part of me remembers last season when we lost by 3 in Seattle Week 2 and thought "Wow. Very competitive. We're looking up!" And then we lose to the Rams Week 3 by 2 and I think "Wow. Very competitive. We're looking up!" And then we lose by 3 in Arizona Week 4 and I begin to think, "Hmm... there's a mysterious pattern, here."

Of course, I do think the Vikings in Minnesota are a tougher test than all of those. But there's a reason why I stay cautious. There comes a point where "staying competitive" is no longer good enough for me. But I'll let it slide just this one time, because I predicted a 10-point loss and I have the Vikings winning the Super Bowl, anyway.
I got the 49ers in the wildcard for sure

People point to the Morris fumble, Witherspoon not turning around, dropped TD by Garcon, etc.

That throw to Goodwin though is the one that gets me. He could have... should have caught that. And if he does there's likely no pick six on the following play. Oh well. There's always 4-5 plays that decide every game and in my mind that and the pick six were plays #4 and #5.

A wildcard berth is a successful season for sure. Right now I'm thinking 8-8 or 9-7.

You mean the deep throw to Kittle that he dropped and then Jimmy threw the pick six?

I agree. I think we need to stop with this moral victory bs, in my opinion. And it should start next week against a Lions team that should be a very winnable game.

The fact of the matter is. The NFC is stacked with talent. You can't keep using the moral victory excuse everytime. That's how you end up as 5-6 win team. At a certain point, this team needs to take the next step forward. And I'm not talking about last year when we were up against a Jacksonville team that probably didn't take us that seriously. I'm talking about when you have good coaches like Mike Zimmer game plan and exploit your weaknesses when they are actually playing for something.

I agree with you!!! I don't know why people or other players are hating/being negative, we held our own for the most part today(only losing by 8pts), obviously we are still rebuilding and need more pieces while the viqueens have had the same group of guys and have been a talented team for the past couple of years so of course no one expected us to win...I was just happy we were in it until the end...unlike the buffalo Bill's lol
