Dropped passes suck but is correctable, they were perfectly placed balls and the play calling was on pt. OL has been solid in PP and you can see them starting to gel in RB.

Penalties come from many things, one major one is every team is getting called for everything right now in preseason not just SF. They're youth shows and they're still learning. Coaching needs to step it up and help correct those. But let's stop acting like our DC doesn't care about penalties.

I agree with the edge rushers we got nothing there that teams have to game plan for. We will struggle there imo
We have two good linebackers. one just got hurt last night and of course will not be around for two games,

Then why are you here?

I've been a 49ers fan since 1992. There are several people on this site who I enjoy reading their opinions. But the overwhelming majority of 49er fans on this site love to play the doom and gloom role and its exhausting. It's preseason and people are already giving up hope.

This site is the most interesting with the most knowledgable followers in the NFL. We all process things differently. That's what makes it interesting and also tests your view of things. I know I get got up in the emotions of the moment. Sometimes I get my mind changed and just as often if not more, I stay put with opinions I have. Clearly, almost all of us on here are wanting the Niners to succeed. Healthy arguments are good. I have learned a great deal on this site and I want to keep seeing different opinions.

There is a good mix of opinions on this board. What do people expect from a bottom tier franchise? 100% Sunshine and lollipop posts?

Several personnel mistakes made this off season in my opinion. Eric Reid should have been brought back for 1 year and 5 million. Not sure he isn't better then what we already have plus would've added depth to the LB position. Jimmie Ward should've been sent packing. Ward is never healthy and is a big waste of 8 million+. Niners should've added another good CB to the back end of this defense to go with Sherman and Witherspoon. After Witherspoon and Sherman the rest of the outside CB's absolutely blow. I guess what they're are trying to do is let the young guys grow in year 2 and see what holes we have. The problem I see is that we have several players who can't stay healthy and the players behind them are a big drop off.

Ever think Reid didn't want another 1 yr deal? He's also not gonna play LBer when he's a safety (didn't want to play LBer last yr). Can't assume he would come back for that.

Ward's 5th yr option was applied last yr, at that pt they didn't know what that has at FS and he was the starter. It's easy to say woulda shoulda a yr later.

They can still bring in a backup CB after teams cut down to the final roster. Williams imo is more than fine at CB, Reed in only a short amount of time has proven he belongs on the roster, and Moore has looked better as the off seasons goes.

We need better sub package rushers, which don't grow on trees either.

People are putting entirely too much stock into preseason games. I'm just glad we made it relatively unscathed as far as major injuries go.

I'm not a hematologist, but I'm willing to bet cciowa's blood is negative. You complain more than my wife.

Right usually you don't have a bunch of studs as backups...Warner and either smith/Coyle will have to be there for the first two weeks.

Is what it is.

I've been saying this for years...

...a tap on the ass will be a tackle and a tap on the cup will be a sack #VerySoon

Thank man!

Niners are one of the youngest teams in football that's gonna lead to penalties, just is. It's crazy to actually look at how much turnover has happened to his team in a short amount of time.

Jimmy G kinda sped up the rebuild, especially in the eyes of fans. They're not ready to kick ass in the playoffs. Imo they're a yr away from really doing some damage, they need a couple more pieces.

People gotta lower their expectations just a little...and all the negative nancy need to calm down as well. This team is gonna be competitive every Sunday and they will put pts in the board...we as fans haven't had that in a while.

How many times in the preseason have we just left players wide open with no one covering them at all. Yesterday I saw missed assignments on defense and I also saw some players playing zone when we were in man to man coverage. I'm not sold on Robert Saleh as a defensive coordinator at all.

Do you realize that this is the equivalent of a WR running the wrong route and saying Kyle is a s**t OC? A coordinator can't hold the hand of every player on the field.

This. They have installed a rule that would put a WTF penalty at any point of the game, and most likely game changing

Not a coincidence that the league adds a new rule to help control the outcome of games after sports betting has been expanded.

You all crying over preseason.
I'd be more concerned if the offense was constantly going 3 and out and the defense got lit up for 21+ in the 1st half.

There are concerning issues but nothing that can't be cleaned up and coached up and it's something that's partly a product of a young team and a young first-time head coach that still needs to learn the finer details of his craft.

And I'm not sold on the narrative that it's because Kyle is buddy-buddy with all the players because Kyle strikes me as a guy that can really light into people. I mean we know he ripped into Kendrick Borne for being late and I suspect he's probably ripped into a few guys before. Just because when the cameras are on we don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen behind closed doors.
