So I left that out. Having said that, I've loved most of the 2018 draft except for Kentavius. Now, don't get me wrong, he's a 49er so I'll support Kentavius. What I don't like is that there was edge rushers out there that could be had for the Kentavius pick. (again, even if the edge rusher picked at Kentavius' spot *didn't make the team,* it would still equal the result of Kentavius being IR'ed for a whole year plus). Buckner wasn't at fault, I think he was playing at the NT position and he communicated it to the Big end and also to the 3-tech, but I don't think the 3-tech (would that be Solomon?) communicated it to Dakota (or whoever was playing LEO at the time).
Just giving you a hard time!
I don't mind the Kentavius pick as they also picked up really good prospects at--CB, S, WR, OL, LB, and DT. Only three offensive picks out of nine. Two explosive WRs who are also excellent return specialists, a top OT, a nice fit at LB...
I was sad that they didn't pick up a true edge guy but the way the draft broke it just didn't happen. Oh well, they aren't likely to be in the SB this year and edge rushers usually come in ready, for the most part.
What great edge guy was there when they picked Kentavius? Not one they liked or they would have made the pick.
Well any time you make the playoffs, you have a chance at a Super Bowl. I think out of 19+ trys, we got 5 super bowls out of those playoff appearances. ShanaLynch had an excellet draft - sans the edge rusher though, so I agree with you there.
I think there were talented edge rushers out there available in the 2018 draft. ShanaLynch said so:
"Those guys are difficult to find, first and foremost," Lynch said. "We felt like there were a couple guys who had an opportunity to be special there. You know, just where we were, we didn't have an opportunity or chose not to take them."

But when it came down to making a pick, they didn't see a player who provided an obvious upgrade over players already on the roster, including Cassius Marsh, Jerry Attaochu, Eli Harold and Arik Armstead.
"We have some pretty good players," Shanahan said. "Yeah, we'd love to add whoever the best pass-rusher is on the outside in the draft. We'd love to get a Von Miller, but you only get eight up on game day and you only get nine on our roster.

They just decided not to draft one. I'm of the opinion that Saleh could have been the deciding factor here if he really was more vociferous in his campaign to add a pass rusher in the draft. ShanaLynch is concerned about the overall team, and the OC opposite of Saleh is the HC, so obviously the OC outweighs the DC in a lot of decisions -- and I just think that combo of Kyle being both the HC *and* the OC outweighed Saleh in getting a pass rusher. As for John, John's going to want DB's as a former DB himself, and Kyle's going to want offensive players as the OC. It's interesting that the 2018 draft resulted in 3 DB's 2 WR's and *no* edge rushers.
