Was it when Kyle explained the slant-flat concept (offensive PI vs WAS)? That was good. Didn't realize how good the weekly HC pressers could be having to listen to the previous 49er HCs. Although Tomsula was good too, except for opposite reasons.

It was both hilarious and sad at how Tomsula had no f'n clue what was going on.

Very well put.

Wayyyy over his head.
And yet he still won 3 more games than Chip Kelly....

Chip sucked!
Harbaugh > Tomsula > Chip

Looks like the ship has been righted.

yep, that's what I was about to say. #leaveJTalone
Tomsula seems like a great guy and he was a great DL coach for us....doesn't mean I can't post funny gifs of his crazy ass :)

Looking back, I think that was the funniest 49ers' season of all time.

From the fake coach search to the farting to the firing in less than a year. Good times.

Which, to be fair to Tomsula, should have been clear before he was hired.

Perhaps he helped the team more than most believe...the Yorks may have learned they don't know squat about hiring coaches!

That was the most demoralizing (well, as demoralizing as it gets in a fan of a sport sense) off season. Felt like a million miles away from being competitive and basically having a sledge hammer taken to the 3 straight title game appearance team.
The face of Tomsula symbolizes the darkest of ages for 49ers fans. Someone should start a poll of who's the worst coach in 49ers history, he'd probably win.

I agree to a point, but going from Walsh to Seifert to Mariucci to Erickson to Nolan to Singletary was perhaps the greatest slide in coaching talent in NFL history! Just so agonizing to recall all of this! And it really started with the Yorks* and their failure to realize they didn't know enough to make good decisions. The last two on this list will go down in my coaching book of infamy!

For me it started with Mooch. George locked up 6 seasons with plus-plus OCs. So in that respect there wasn't a huge drop off of offensive excellence. I either wish George would have stayed longer and tried it with another OC or had George step aside and ride off in to the sunset with the SB29 victory. In this scenario, Mike Shanahan would have been elevated to HC and got to build the team as needed.

'97-'98 was the jumping off point and it coincided with Eddie leaving. I know he pulled the trigger on George and I never really liked that considering Mooch was the replacement. However, I still kinda believe if Eddie would have stayed we would have seen Mike Holmgren leading this team into the 2000's. I would have been more than done with that.

I was disappointed Mike Shanahan hadn't been elevated to HC. Seifert did a better job than I thought he would, so all was good! Mariucci was a pretty good offensive mind and started his first two years with 13-3, 12-4...but then all heck broke loose! His fall came with the retirement of Young and the elevation of Garcia.

Tomsula was better than McCulley and O'Connor in 1978 at the very least.
