As to our own FA's, I'd sign

Jimmy Garoppolo (quarterback): Pay the man $25M a year for the next 4 years.

Carlos Hyde (running back): I'd offer him a modest contract to compete to start next year.

Brock Coyle (linebacker): Excellent ST player and proved to be a capable 3rd MIKE who can make all the defensive calls.

Daniel Kilgore (center): Offer him backup money and a chance to compete.

Cassius Marsh (defensive end): You can never have too many edge rushers. Rotation contract.

Tank Carradine (defensive end): Saleh loves him and probably a priority starter at Big End.

Garry Gilliam (right tackle): Lynch talked about the importance of having depth at T. He's solid depth.

This is important to note. We'll still be right in the wheel house for a trade down which would be absolutely ideal esp. if that trade down is for a QB.

49ers NEED to re-sign:

1. Jimmy GQ - Obviously!!!
2. Eric Reid - He's been a big positive to the defense, playing both LB and Safety.
3. Cassius Marsh - Love his motor and experience in this defense.
4. Brock Coyle - Yes, there should be an upgrade at LB next to Foster, but he would be a solid back up nonetheless.
5. Tank Carradine, been solid for the 9ers defense, regardless of him being on IR.

Honorable mention - Carlos Hyde, I'm kinda torn on re-signing him because I'd like to see someone like Bryce Love, Rashaad Penny or Nick Chubb in the mix at RB. But that won't happen if Hyde is re-signed IMO.

I agree with most of this, they all (apart from Jimmy) need to give up a hometown discount though. Not interested in market price. I think Carlos will take it, all his talk about Super Bowl means he can take less money to get there.

Tartt is the starter but like you noted, I'd still offer Reid a return but realistically, probably 10% chance he returns to compete for a big nickel role or to compete with Malcolm Smith at WILL.

I'm not sure they'll take less or give that home town discount, but some of them mentioned that they would like to stay in SF. I just think the above mentioned has played a huge part in their 4 game winning streak, Jimmy GQ obviously the most that's why he's getting paid the most. But those are the players that deserve to come back to continue to build on this rising team.

Tartt WAS the starter, but I think Reid has re-claimed his spot. I really do hope he comes back, he's had a solid year and is one of the prime veterans on the defense now that Bowman is gone.
So if we're going to be drafting around #10, we'll be right in prime position to trade back esp. if a QB falls to us here between #8 - #11.

If any of these QB's fall to us, it should be even nicer trade compensation.

A trade back between #15 - #21 puts us in prime position for our biggest team needs with premier players AND add additional ammunition for other needs.

7. Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA. - Trade back ammo
8. Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville. - Trade back ammo

9. Vita Vea, DT, Washington. - Don't need
10. Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson.- LEO need
11. Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson. - Don't need
12. Da'Ron Payne, DT, Alabama. - Don't need
13. Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama. - Don't need
14. Sam Darnold, QB, USC. - Trade back ammo
15. Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU. - ZWR need
16. Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia. - WILL/MIKE need
17. Joshua Jackson, CB, Iowa. - #1/#2 CB need
18. Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame. - Big need
19. Donte Jackson, CB, LSU. - #1/#2 CB need
20. Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State. - #1/#2 CB need
21. Josh Allen, LB, Kentucky. - WILL/MIKE need

Tartt went out graded 85.7 and Reid is currently 72.5. Tartt clearly out played him and is still playing on his rookie contract. He's not going to lose his job because of a simple forearm break. Plus the $.

Good list Kolohe, but with one question mark: Eric Reid. Some plays the guy can look all world, then next half or next game or two games later it looks like he spazzed out and can't cover or tackle or stop, anybody or anything. I guess the word i am looking for is inconsistent. When he's on, plenty good. It is the other times....and they are not rare,, that he is so frustrating. I would prefer maybe someone not quite so flashy but who is always the same. With Reid you never know who is going to show up. The all pro guy or the guy who is out on Pluto, and seems not to be in the game. Now, after a couple yrs, i would pass on him. Let him go make big money elsewhere. Fine by me.

Again, good list NC, but question re: Kilgore. If he cannot block and protect our FR Qb, why would we want to keep him. Here i think it really is a case of injury /age and he just can't do it anymore. If you are just suggesting allow him to compete, fine. But more than that, i think we can do better....we have to do better. You know the central 2/3 of our OL cannot block and if it weren't for JG out there, it would be a horror show each week. We saw that terrific first series last week where on 3rd and 3 (or 5), Jimmy just got the ball off and he got plastered from behind. If that wasn't kilgore's man , ok, but it just shows we cannot allow our FR QB to get beat up by guys who can't block. Sure jimmy can get the ball out but is you already know, if he gets hit that hard every play, he'll be injured in no time . Now if we had 3 stud blockers in front of him, Joe and Trenton on each end, then we are doing our best to take care of our FR QB...a once in a generation QB. So no on Kilgore for me, although he does know how to dish out line blocking. But actual blocking, no. So i would pass on him, plus Beadles, plus Fsco, plus Laken. I am not opposed to them competing but just don't want to resign guys who can't block.

As for Gilliam, did he show well when he played? I can't remember him except injured.

They are all dispensable. They can take it or find new jobs! We have the ammunition and appeal to be more selective than we ever have in the past, time to use that to our advantage.

From Cam Inman:

Jimmy Garoppolo (quarterback): On the verge of going 5-0 as the starter and the only question is whether the 49ers are willing to pay for a long-term deal or settle on a franchise tag. 2018 status: Likely.

Carlos Hyde (running back): He needs 150 yards in possibly his 49ers finale to reach 1,000 yards for first time in his four-year career. He has one 100-yard game this year, in Week 2 (124 at Seattle). But he also has team-high 57 receptions for 340 yards. 2018 status: Questionable.

Eric Reid (strong safety): He indeed looks comfortable as a strong safety in this scheme, and he's been a vocal leader, aside from national anthem protests. The 49ers have an abundance of safeties so Reid is likely expendable, although John Lynch seems to have an affinity for the team's 2013 top draft pick. 2018 status: Questionable.

Brock Coyle (linebacker): His aptitude for this scheme is unmatched and he settled down the run defense in the wake of NaVorro Bowman's exit, albeit a rough debut start at Washington. 2018 status: Questionable.

Daniel Kilgore (center): Held off camp challengers Jeremy Zuttah and Tim Barnes en route to starting every game, with improving results. Helping his case: continuity's sake with Garoppolo. 2018 status: Questionable.

Cassius Marsh (defensive end): Claimed off waivers from the Patriots on Nov. 22, he made a key sack at Chicago but has been quiet since then. He's a serviceable, substitute pass rusher. 2018 status: Questionable.

Tank Carradine (defensive end): Spent seven games on injured reserve but otherwise emerged this season as a run-down specialist, which was not as envisioned upon his 2013 second-round draft selection. 2018 status: Questionable.

Aaron Lynch (defensive end): His stock fell more this season: inactivate eight games, missed six with a calf injury, lone sack came in his season debut, had a fumble recovery at Houston. His 12 1/2 sacks in 2014-15 will entice others to try reviving his career. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Dontae Johnson (cornerback): Of his team-high 12 penalties, six have come in the past three games and 10 since Week 8. He returned his first interception in 56 games for a touchdown, only to get briefly benched out of halftime last Sunday. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Brandon Fusco (right guard): Held down the starting spot since arriving under the radar through free agency. Has had more downs than ups, though not as bad as critics say. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Leger Douzable (defensive end): Looked like a nice October addition when he had two sacks in Philly, but he's been inactive four of the past five games. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Garry Gilliam (right tackle): Trent Brown's backup appeared in only eight games and started one, going on injured reserve with an Oct. 29 knee injury. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Louis Murphy (wide receiver): He'll forever be in franchise lore for catching Jimmy Garoppolo's first touchdown pass as a 49er, to cap a Nov. 26 loss to Seattle. Since then: three catches in four games. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Leon Hall (cornerback): Midseason acquisition has seen sparse action as a reserve, but the 11th-year veteran had a season-high five tackles last game. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Logan Paulsen (tight end): The eighth-year veteran has been a blocking specialist, with no receptions on two targets. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Tim Barnes (center): Cut after camp, re-signed at midseason, hasn't been active for a game yet. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Antone Exum (safety): Midseason injury replacement has been inactive since starting the Nov. 26 loss to Seattle. 2018 status: Doubtful.

Asa Jackson (cornerback): Practice-squad call-up helped the special teams for four games before going on injured reserve (hamstring). 2018 status: Doubtful.

Chris Jones (defensive tackle): Went on injured reserve (core) out of training camp after showing versatility in 2016. 2018 status: Doubtful.

I pretty much agree with everyting Cam wrote. Whether a guy is doubtful or questionable, no big deal. But it does show we are carrying a bunch of guys where we really could be doing better. We replaced 37 of our 53 last yr. That leaves 16. They pretty much show up on this list.

if Reid is affordable then sure, but he is overrated and if is price is bid up then I hope we just move on

Yeah, honestly, you could probably upgrade Kilgore as a backup too...he's like the Brock Coyle of offense. He knows the system inside and out and if you needed him for a couple games, no worries.

Gilliam was a solid signing with experience in zone blocking. But like everyone else, he got injured the very game he got his start...big upgrade over Beadles.

As a starter and in what role?

He clearly wants to be a starting SS.
