I also disagree this safety thing is horrible. I'll bet money they bring back Tartt on a cheap deal just like they brought JV back.

bringing tartt back is supposed to be some sort of a solution,, he is not good.. i at least see the reasoning with signing jason. the man has played at a all pro ability. tartt is below average

I know how you feel about TH, but IMO he's a sub package and STer. That has value, he's not a starter though. They need to have a safety that's interchangeable with Ward. Tartt can play in the box, 2-high, single-high, blitz, run defend, cover in the slot etc.

We will see, I would love to have Tartt back for dirt cheap and I think it will happen at some point.

you pay him dirt cheap and that is exactly the type of play you will get from him,

He had one of the key plays of the game in the Packers game without that we may not get to the NFCCG. Very experienced and knows what we are doing back there. In his prime. Would make sense on both sides.

Did he get $10M a yr? Yeah, no thanks, I'm good with what we have.

Agreed 100%. Let the Saints pay him that much. Niners have one very good S in Ward...let the other guys battle it out for the second S position. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Hufanga takes it.

In a league that values speed in the wide outs. we counter with a slow safety. brilliant

The Saints signed a very expensive safety? I thought that they were over the cap by $100 million. lo

Saints are a poorly run club. I would hate my team to be doing this annual stupid salary cap dance. I would hate to see the huge looming cap hits kicked down the road.

They've lost real players like Armstead, Williams and Hendrickson.

They have the 6th most dead money in the NFL at $29 million. We have only $5 mil in dead money. So they are around 6 times as much in dead money as us. We rank 29th in dead money which means we are very well run.

Very well run, indeed. Plus we are competitve and have almost all of our skill positions filled. This draft was about depth and they executed the plan well. You cannot account for everything but overall I like our chances going into the season.

Agree, those stats speak for themselves.

Why is he not good? What is he so horrible at? He's not an all-pro but he does his job and wasn't a liability at all. Could they do better? Sure. He's fair from "not good" though.

Stop it. So we should massively overpay for a Jamal Adams type S because they're that impactful?

They were over the cap by a lot. Then they renegotiated the contracts they had and pushed the bill down the road. Now over half their cap in 2023 is dedicated to 5 guys. 30 mil over next year not including the money they are going to promise Matthieu. Gonna be closer to 40 mil over.

I mean they're gonna. You keep restructuring you get to a point where you got 30+ yr old players making top end money with massive dead money hits tied to it.

I mean do we think the saints are gonna be amazing this yr? I don't.

Agree with the take on Jason - high end talent on a low cost budget is low risk. As for Tartt, depends on the contract. It's telling he hasn't received offers from other teams... I'm somewhat content to roll with the players on the roster, drafted, and signed post draft. Let's see what the team has in them.

And who's their QB? At least some teams that are pushing cash down the road have elite QBs and a legit shot to win a SB.

Yah Tampa is going for it one more time. Same with Packers to some degree. New Orleans just isn't well run. Never been a fan of Loomis.
