9ers cap issues stem from one player and one player alone. The minute they realize they are overrating his value and make a deal with Houston the better.

It's really not that complicated of a situation. They don't want to burn 7.5 mill for cutting Jimmy for no reason before he can pass a physical. Plus no one will trade for him before he can pass a physical. Once his physical is passed he will be traded or cut. Simple as that.

I know teams can waive physicals when signing/trading for players

but can we waive the physical for Jimmy ?

He'd have to agree to it, we can't just waive a physical, since that $7.5M is injury guaranteed.

I know, just saying, appreciate knowing I'm not the only one who realizes that keeping Jimmy right now is the best move, rather have the money, but don't want to give him $7.5M more than he should get from us.

Did he get $10M a yr? Yeah, no thanks, I'm good with what we have.

Agreed 100%. Let the Saints pay him that much. Niners have one very good S in Ward...let the other guys battle it out for the second S position. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Hufanga takes it.

Agreed, and he got $11M a yr on a 3yr deal, we couldn't afford that, the way our cap looks in 2023, it just wouldn't work, we need that money from Jimmy to rollover into 2023 to keep our own, or replace guys who leave.

Then who decides when he's ready for his physical, Jimmy?

just an odd situation

Rather let Hufanga and Moore battle for that spot then bring back Tartt. I think that dropped int ended his time here

I know how you feel about TH, but IMO he's a sub package and STer. That has value, he's not a starter though. They need to have a safety that's interchangeable with Ward. Tartt can play in the box, 2-high, single-high, blitz, run defend, cover in the slot etc.

We will see, I would love to have Tartt back for dirt cheap and I think it will happen at some point.

Well it isn't exactly just how I feel about TH, the team kinda showed how they feel about him as well. Everything you said about Tartt, he did that last season and was also interchangeable with Ward. The fact that they let Tartt test the market and still didn't bring him back tells me their confidence in TH, shoot they brought back JV before Tartt. But as you said, we will see, I wouldn't be mad if they brought him back but I just don't see it. If they thought getting a Safety was a priority then they sure fooled me by not drafting one this past weekend passing on both Nick Cross and Kirby Joseph for a freaking RB

Whenever a player is to be released, if hurt, he needs to pass a physical. It sucks, but it is what it is.

100% they could get the physical waived. Teams would trade for him right now if they really wanted him. He had a minor shoulder procedure done that just takes a ton of rest, this isn't a torn labrum.

Jimmy just seems to have this weird hold on this team where everyone overrates his abilities which translates to a price tag that is too high. Houston won't increase their offer in July. They know what he is and they know the injury isn't something overly serious. Just trying to get him for what they value him at.

It's not odd it's just like any other job when you are on a dr.supervision. You are off until your dr.declares that you are healthy enough to return. In this case it will be his dr. Unless there is a discrepancy by the niners team dr. Which may be the ones making the call anyway since he is still under contract.

Doubt it then the niners could take it to arbitration. It's a minor issue the dr.will release him and he will be traded or cut. It's that simple.

You think he gets another surgery just to prolong it? If he needs another surgery were screwed. No way he gets another just for funsies.

Exactly! I think it is the best business move. It kept us from maybe signing another solid FA or two but I beilieve we need all of that money to sign Deebo, Bosa and our rookies plus having some cap leeway going into the season would be great.

In a league that values speed in the wide outs. we counter with a slow safety. brilliant
Hard to imagine we would nail that draft so well. The UDFAs are the cherry on the top. Considering we had no first rounder I am impressed.
