For me it makes no sense to rebuild at QB and keep players like Juice, Ward, etc. Don't sell fans that the team is even close to the playoffs and just be honest about another losing season. Draft a CB high and higher picks for OL and Edge with depth at WR. Focus cap space on resigning Warner and future Bosa. Deebo will be cheap cause injury prone and size/speed ratio.
49ers need to either fully go with Jimmy and the team they need to build around him OR start over at QB and all the losses that comes with that.
Can we get lucky if a player drops? Yes but that still has nothing to do with the team that needs to be built around the starter.
You make some good points here. It almost seems like they are trying to keep the team together even when they know some key players are going to be leaving if they stay with Jimmy. If they aren't willing to make a bold move and get another QB then they really need to be aggressive and build a wall around Jimmy because if he gets hurt again next year, that's the end for him. If they lose Williams because they keep Jimmy and can't afford Trent then Jimmy is more vulnerable. I hate trading away draft picks but at the same time you never really know what those picks will bring. Collecting a lot of 1st and 2nd round picks is great for bad teams like the Lions or like the Dolhins and Jets. They need them to build since they are basically starting from scratch.
