Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

Whatever their approach was, they took a team with minimal talent to the Super Bowl in their 3rd season. They had to have done quite a lot right to have that much success. I think it is unfair to say they weren't good at building a roster.

Their 4th season fail due to injury. We will see how they do going forward.

Matthew Stafford has arguably been letting fans and teams down since being the number QB prospect in his recruiting class out of high school. Talented guy but not necessarily a leader or a winner. I mean if you want an Eli Manning type, fine. But that's what he is.

And that is still a major upgrade over Jay Cutler without ANY arm talent like we have currently playing behind center.

Some guys are so delusional. They keep thinking that the Niners with Garoppolo are still gonna be better than the Rams with Stafford.

Well, I think they know that right now we have the worst QB in the division but they just don´t want to accept it.

The 49ers with no Nick Bosa and Nick Mullens and a hobbled Garoppolo at QB beat the Rams twice this season. Why wouldn't people expect a healthy 49ers team to beat them?

Supposedly we never made an offer at all, was gonna wait for after the weekend then the lions called back and the niners said HELLLLLL NOOOO we aren't matching that !!!

I would have loved to have seen Stafford on this team but two first rounders and change was a pretty hefty price to pay. At that point, you may as well save up your draft ammo and go all in on a QB in the draft if there's one that they particularly like. Hit on the right guy and you wind up with 10-15 years of a QB as well as three years on a cheap rookie deal that allows you to retain other players.

That would be the dream situation honestly, just unsure who would be their guy, I like Wilson the most, not sold on Fields, know nothing about Lance abd is Mac Jones worth the 12th pick ?

So you would spend one of those picks on a QB anyways and just what? Hope and pray Shanahan who covets trash QBs finally hits on one that's better than Stafford is today?
