Last year at this time we had a consensus 8-8 roster.
Then the team hit the field.
I think, like last year, our OL and DBs are still smoke and mirrors.
But the method will still be outstanding DL play and a dominant Running game.
We're still built to contend each week, and dominate many weeks.

A+ really?? You do realize the 49ers will be sitting on the sidelines tomorrow, right!!!
IMO C+.
Traded Buckner away only to draft a rookie for a replacement. Trade UP for a WR when Ceedee Lamb was there for the taking AND they could've kept their 4th and 5th round picks and just stayed put to select Ross Blacklock.
If I had it my way I would've selected Jerry Jeudy or Ceedee Lamb at 14 then drafted Yetur Gross-Matos at 31. Still would've had 4th and two 5th round picks and possibly trade up into the 2nd day of the draft.
Are you really upset with this FO? Have you learned anything about how they draft? They turned this team around in 3 years, which a lot of people didn't expect them to do so quickly. How can you not trust their process and have a little faith. They deserve that at least. We were a dumpster fire, laughing stock of the league before they got here. I love our 2 picks.
What's wrong with being upset, it's allowed right??
If anything I'm the last person whose faith should be questioned. I've defended 98% percent of the moves they've made including the time they drafted Wishnowsky and signing Brian Hoyer.
But all I could think about this past season is how this offense needed more playmakers and the loss of Emmanuel Sanders. And after the Super Bowl, I was hoping they were all in on adding playmakers and speed FIRST. I was wrong.
I'm not bashing you for being upset. I'm just surprised you aren't happy with these picks. I know you're a positive poster around here. But we couldn't keep Bucker with how much money he wanted. And we got a dude with so much potential, that'll he could be better than Buckner. This guy is built like Aaron Donald. Not saying he's gonna be him, but the ceiling is there. I understand everybody loves CeeDee or Jerry, but no pick is a sure thing. And this Aiyuk kid is gonna be special, just because he didn't play in the SEC for a major college, I really think people are overlooking him.

The thing I don't like about lynch is that we gave up a 3rd for a 1 year rental in sanders and we traded up a good chunk of our picks for a receiver (who I do really like though).
Of course it won't matter if aiyuk becomes a mljster for us.

I mean I'm not livid over it. It is what it is but I just wish we had at least 1 day 2 pick.

i wish we could find some suckers to give us a 6th for pettis and goodwin or maybe a average player in a area of need for us. and i wish we could find a team to give us a 5th or 6th for brieda... i wish lynch and kyle would not love cj for much. i bet a team would give up a 6th for him, then we go sign some undrafted qb.

Or we can talk to our GM who apparently didn't do enough research before moving up to draft Dante Dad-Bod Pettis.

Oh yeah?
Yup investing resources into DL every year and trading up for WRs when you already have limited draft picks.
Their success will be short lived at this pace.
The real question is which DL will Lynch take next year and which WR will Kyle move up for. There's your formula for all future mock drafts. LOL

Hopefully this is the last time we have to redraft multiple positions to fix early round misses.

Any chance we could do what the Saints did with us in 2017 and trade a 2021 2nd + 7th for a 3rd today?

It would have to be a hell of a good player do that, but possible. I'd rather keep our 2021 draft picks and maybe pick up a 4th in 2021 to use in what could be the biggest supplemental draft we've ever seen. If college football doesn't happen this year or gets shut down after a covid-19 resurgence, then players will come out in droves.

That's wishful thinking. Not matter how good of a team you are, you are gonna miss on some picks in the draft. It's a crapshoot!

Totally agree with those that see OL as a priority that is being neglected. I'm sure that Garoppolo would appreciate not being blasted right up the middle when he drops back to pass.
