It's pretty clear the plan for 2020 is to survive with what they have on OL. I'd expect a big push to upgrade it (and the defensive secondary) in the 2021 offseason.

Year 6 of the rebuild...finally give a s**t about protecting your QB. LOL

Year 6 ?

I wonder who is really making the picks... D is what we are built for, but there was serviceable bigs later in rounds.. Jeudy is a rare #1
Let me ask the most important question, are the 49ers a better team today? Yes or no. I'm not so sure. I know Tampa, Seattle, Saints, are waiting in the wings. At best we filled some holes, but are we better? I don't think so, the "red shirts" whom Lynch spoke of come through.

I think that they are over-estimating their roster. They got to the superbowl partly because of their great comraderie and good coaching, not an over-abundance of talent.

They got two really good players today, but still have lots of needs. They still need:
OL
CB
TE
Back-up WR
(also could use others like LB, S, etc)

If somebody they like falls into rd 4, they should consider trading a 2021 pick (eg. to Miami) to get another pick this year

I've been saying all off season, Lynch has rested on his laurels esp. in free agency. The "we just need to get 7 minutes better" mindset is going to cost us IMHO. We definitely are not as talented as we finished the year and on paper, our prime competition certainly got stronger through free agency, trades and the draft.

We're still a great team though (top 5 in talent) but the standard should be Superbowl. They went the moneyball route instead and preached "sustained success" to the fanbase.

Hopefully that was the right thing to do.

That quote by McGlinchey really bothered me. No team "starts" where they left off the previous year. The NFL just doesn't work that way. Now do I believe the 49ers are the best team in the NFC? Yes. Does that automatically mean we are going back to the Super Bowl? Absolutely not. I was hoping we could maneuver a bit and land some players at key positions. Our improvement really is going to fall under Jimmy G. We also may as well view the guys who didn't play last year or bombed as our draft picks lol. Jerick McKinnon, Trent Taylor, Jalen Hurd, Dante Pettis, etc.

I do think both picks will be great contributors this year. But with the amount of draft capital we have sunk into the WR position, we should have top-5 passing offense this year or the ability to take over a game, the way our running game did multiple times throughout the year. I think we have sunk 10 draft picks into the WR position.

And while some think there weren't many rookies making the team, I think a promising guard has a shot, a corner,TE, edge rusher, and FB. That's five picks that can add much needed depth, where four of the picks have a chance to start in a year. I think there is a lot of finger crossing going on with the health of our current players.

They had to make a decision and they decide to fill the 2 holes left by the departures of Buckner and Sanders. We may not have improved but we at least should be about the same but with more cap space next year.

This is a plus. We may have to buy a guard in FA lol. Maybe a TE as well if we don't draft one Saturday.

Lynch and shanny once again showed they do not know how to maximize draft value.

Yup investing resources into DL every year and trading up for WRs when you already have limited draft picks.

Their success will be short lived at this pace.

Better get some talent 2020

We should have 2 compensatory picks in 3rd round because of Buck and Sanders

Buck was traded so no comp picks for him. Sanders I believe will net a comp 4th or 5th

Sanders should get us something but we traded Buck so he wouldn't count towards the comp pick formula even though he signed a huge contract with the Colts.

But isn't that the case with every team in the league(finger crossing for health)?
With free agency and salary cap you just can't be dominant in every phase of the game. There will be voids on every roster. Niners have committed to dominant d line play, that makes the whole defense better. Would like to see some better o line options, but let's see what the plan is going forward.

i like our two picks.. i totally get the concern about the o line. maybe we can find a gem, maybe there is a guy for us to sign. maybe we can get some picks by trading away goodwin pettis and breida.. i know the maybe game is not a good game when it comes to protecting your franchise qb... i share those same worries about our line..

I am now even more depressed to know that we don't get a comp for Buck...
