Reports out of mini camp state that Tartt has impressive closing speed and will be a heat seeking missile when the pads go on.

Going to add him to the additions. I knew I was forgetting someone.
I think that he might make the biggest impact from a defensive rookie.

Forgot Skuta. I think that's it. We have a hungry team with a lot of competition for jobs which will also make for a better special teams unit.

IMO, the BIG question is will the DLine be able to put enough pressure on opposing QB's.
What Justin did on almost every play was occupy 2 OLinemen and still put pressure on the QB.
He also enabled Aldon and others to get sacks.

My expectations aren't high, maybe a top 20 defense. It's gonna be a long season if the NT position takes a hit with injuries. They had a chance to nail down the position with Wilfork being a free agent and the draft, still holding out hope for Dorsey and Ian Williams I guess. smh

The good news so far is that per 49ers.com staff, they had Ian Williams as the #1 under-the-radar player thus far.

I think we will blitz a lot more to cover up the loss of the run stuffing DE pair of Smith and Mac.

I was hoping we'd pick up Terence Knighton. He was damn near unstoppable against the Hawks in a very lopsided SB.

If Mangini can implement a good system...we wouldn't need the best of the best putting guys on islands..
I see the guys we have that can work from a whole team defense

I'm not worried about our defense. I wasn't worried about our defense last year with all the injuries. It's the offense that was holding this team back. More specifically, the offensive coaching was holding this team back.
ANY improvement on offense gets us back to the playoffs. Hopefully this year, though, the defense can play a little easier and get bailed out by the offense for a change.

Don't get me wrong I like Ian Williams and I think he has the potential to be a solid NT, but he just cannot stay healthy.

I was hoping for Knighton too, I can't believe how cheap the Redskins signed him for 1 year 4 million, where the heck is the risk for that!!!
Dan Williams, Terrance Knighton and Vince Wilfork all on the market that came cheap. Not to mention Malcom Brown, Carl Davis and Eddie Goldman were right there for the taking. Wow!!!!
