Again, not happening. For one, you don't do QB competitions when one of your QB's has a $60 mil contract and the other is $2 mil. You're saying right there that Kap isn't worth his contract because it would be questioning him as a starter. Two, a trade is highly unlikely with the contract that Kap has, we are better off hoping for a trade for Gabbert and getting a good pick in return.

You don't start a QB just because he makes more. Whoever Kelly starts better be starting because they are the best.

You just don't bench him either, it makes you (the GM) look stupid for giving him such a big contract. Now if Kap was injured, then of course he sits on the bench.

For arguments sake he was Harbs guy. Harbs is gone. Kelly would be a jack ass to start an inferior player because of what they make. I don't care who it is, if somebody behind you is better they should start.

I am not sure who the inferior player will be. Kaepernick looked bad last year and so did Gabbert but Kaeprnick has done well in the past.
Perhaps Kelly will want to see for himself and decide who is better.

That's fine. My point is he better not start Kap because of his cap figure. He should start Kap because he's the better choice. If we're picking starts because of what they make this team will be f**ked.

This is what you said:

"Neither had a good head coach like Harb who held the QB's hand like a baby and more importantly, neither has a championship caliber defense to carry them. And for those who think Kap was the strength of that Super Bowl 49er team doesn't know football"

Which was a response to:

"Neither have gone to the Super Bowl. Neither have brought their team back during a horrific first half of the Super Bowl."

So again, I ask you.....what was the strength of that team?

Just troll AWAY...

You are the one who isnt answering my question, and its ME thats the troll?

Why do you refuse to answer the question?

That's what keeps me coming back to Kap. I place huge value on playoff performance, and he's a guy that was an electrifying playoff performer in 2012 and 2013. He's regressed big-time since then and may not bounce back, but if he sticks around he has a great opportunity here with Chip Kelly.

Kelly has done good work with QBs. Made Foles, Bradford, and Sanchez look like good NFL starters, which nobody would have said before. I believe Kap is a better talent and fit for his system. Even Gabbert has a chance to really shine in this system. I'm excited for both guys..we'll see what happens.

This. I'm excited for both guys. I just can't understand pigeon-holing Gabbert even though Gabbert has never had legit NFL coaching.

How about I make this easy for you. I think he was the strength of that run and that you are conveniently forgetting the s**t hole we were in when we played that game.

2012 vs GB: Kaep started poorly (early pick), finished strong:
  • Over a 181 yards on the ground and two tds
  • Over 260 yards in the air and two tds

2012 vs Atl
  • The Niners came back from 17 points down and won their first road playoff game in 24 years.
  • Kaep was 16/21 for 233 and a td; plus he added 21 yards on the ground.

2012 vs Blt

Without this man, we wouldn't have even been in the game. Let alone had a chance to win it. If this is his greatest achievement, then so be it. But don't tell me that he had no impact. Or that I don't know football. I know winning. And this man has brought us closer than anyone else playing under center since Steve Young.

Edited a redundant sentence.

What Kaepernick has become has absolutely ZERO relevance to what he was. And what he was, was the absolute strength of the team. I am curious to know what JoeMoKnows thinks was the strength of the team because he clearly wont share his opinion.

But I would like to believe he is smart enough to NOT think the strength of the team was the defense.....a unit that was giving up damn near 30 points a game for our final month + playoffs.

Go figure it out yourself. Unless you don't know football LOL

And yet, we wouldn't have been in those holes if he didn't start poorly (the Green Bay game he was at least able to score in the first half). Thankfully the defense was able to hold two of the best offenses in the NFL to a total of 10 second half points while he got his shiz together. And then in the Super Bowl, he had another horrible start.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I hope Kaep gets it back together, but if he doesn't we move on. But I know most fans remember what he did that season. I'll never forget that run. He was electric. It is still tough to think back about that failed attempt to score at the end of the game.

Lol wut?

The D for 3 years was top 5 in almost every category. Yes, the defense was stronger than the bottom ranked offense. You think we get to the post season with a s**t D?
It's 2016. Why do people keep referencing games from 2012? You think guys like Brady, Manning, Brees, etc rest on their accomplishments from seasons ago? You think Russell Wilson cares about what he did in 2013? No, he carries his team into the playoffs after all his weapons went down.

You can laugh all you want. Aldon Smith and Justin Smith were both injured and our defense was AWFUL for the last 6 games of the season.

People remember what they want to remember.

Kap "was the absolute strength of the team"? lol rofl lmfao...!!!

What is he now then? Absolute ruin of the team??? LOL!!!

How come he's the only 49er QB to choke the Super Bowl?

How come he never made 1 pro bowl even under Harb?

How come he got 2 49er head coaches fired back to back?

How come he was 8-8 in 2014 and after taking 14+ million went 2-6 in 2015?

How come he can't lead or carry the team to wins like a franchise QB?

How come he can't beat Seattle???

How come he can't be a pocket passer like all other great NFL QBs, even under Harb the QB guru whisper???

etc etc etc??? Never mind, he's the Greatest 49er QB since Montana and that's why the 49ers should keep him for 2016 and give him 1 more chance lol!!!

Even the great Montana (4 Super Bowl rings, countless pro bowls, a HOFer, a Super Bowl MVP, GOAT) was traded when it was time. What makes Kap so untouchable to his die hard homers??? Maybe they're just blind and delusion or doesn't even know what football is... pathetic.

How no one ever mentions that this guy was not even close to being healthy is just unreal. This dude just had 3 surgeries an it didn't happen last week. He was hurt in season An tried to play, did he play well? Hec no, suprise suprise a player who needs knee surgery , shoulder surgery an thumb surgery on his throwing hand wasn't playing well. Everyone loves to throw stones at this kid , but he took the heat an didn't say a word. He took the heat from his teammates an blamed no one but himself. All the while he should have been on IR. I hope he gets a chance to compete here that's all I want to see.

If we can't trust Baalke to let Chip decide who the best guys are for his offense and we can't trust Chip to start who he thinks is would be best for the team, salary be damned, we are screwed.
