Again, not happening. For one, you don't do QB competitions when one of your QB's has a $60 mil contract and the other is $2 mil. You're saying right there that Kap isn't worth his contract because it would be questioning him as a starter. Two, a trade is highly unlikely with the contract that Kap has, we are better off hoping for a trade for Gabbert and getting a good pick in return.

You don't start a QB just because he makes more. Whoever Kelly starts better be starting because they are the best.

Plenty of Gabbert slinging gifs in the Blaine thread. Against the hawks and cards, too.

Kelly already stated in the Press Conference more or less that they weren't releasing him when he said they'd talk football on April 4th when they were allowed.

It was subtle, but there. Jed and Trent have also mentioned a number of times how cap space isn't the issue for us at the moment.

I also agree with you about how Kap is going to be handled and I look forward to seeing the results. I think the OL isn't so far off actually if Brown and Tiller really are legit - and they do appear to be legit IMO. Just need Kilgore back at the same level and Davis can come back on top of it. I am quietly optimistic about next year.

If Gabbert out performs him for some reason, some seem to think that the team wouldn't pay that much for a backup.... well, usually that is the case. But if were looking into making a playoff run...then I think they'd rather have both QBs...just in case.

I don't know about that. He was pretty accurate throwing to Mathieu.

Seriously, man. So annoyed by these one gif screen shots like they prove anything. We see them used against Kap, like all he does is miss plays and make incomplete passes. Then you get these Gabbert gifts like he's Joe Montana. Kaps bread and butter was intermediate to long passes when he entered the league. Gabberts bread and butter is the 2 yard out....

If I was Kap, I would beg to be traded to the Texans ASAP. He would have the best chance to start with a team like the Texans who were in the play-offs and has a need for a QB upgrade.

There is NO FUTURE for kap with the 49ers and Chip Kelly. Chip Kelly doesn't care, he will get as many QBs as he can and use the best one, and kap isn't one of those that likes to be benched, thus he should ask to be traded before 4/1. If not and kap stays, he will be traded after 2016 anyway lol, and it might not be a good team like the Texans by then
