No surprised at all. Chip Kelly has shown in Philly he likes to get his hands on as many QB as possible, Chip even gave Tim Tebow a try in 2015 and traded Matt Barkley to AZ before 2015 season.

If Kap stays 2016, Chip will switch between kap and BG and trade kap in 2017, this is the last chance and last year for kap with 49ers.

One of the business decisions that needs to be made is that IF CK is even able to be traded, this will be his only chance.

If he stays on, one way or another, if he competes and loses or wins and loses or to BG at some point again, he'll have zero trade value.

Teams are still going to believe in him right now.

No team will want to take on his salary.

That's usually a sign-trade deal.

So then he has to be released? Isn't he essentially on a bunch of 1 year contracts?

But the 49ers would eat the rest of his contract (or a big chunk of it IIRC) if he isn't released before April 1st.

I think so but I doubt it happens.

Doesn't his injury clause guarantee the cash?

Why is everyone so anti-Kaep ? I know he's damages goods, but maybe playing in a system where he can use his legs will get his career back on track.

sounds like Chip is going to give him a chance

He needs to be accurate with quick passes and sound pre snap decision making. If he's not the guy (not saying he is or isn't) this is the only time to get value via a trade. If he stinks next year nobody will want a 20mill backup the following year.

that's just a myth of Chip's offense.

Kaepernick had highest inaccuracy % in NFL last year overall and on short throws (0-9 yds). #49ers

If they are looking to trade him they are likely willing to release him with the way his contract is structured and other teams know this.
