incorrect. 8.8% ($156M) of Levi's construction was funded by taxpayers.

If you haven't paid attention for 25+ years, sure.

Have we not gone to 3 Super Bowls since he's taken over as owner? Say what you will but he's at least done his job. Unless you want an owner like Jerry Jones who takes over as GM because he thinks he can do better.

Jerry Jones won 3 Super Bowls, is self made, one of the most valuable franchises in sports. Plus at it's time they had the best stadium in the world. Since has been surpassed by more recent ones.

Yorks never won anything.

And what has Jerry Jones done the last 30 years aside from building a cool stadium? His entire fanbase wants him to step down. But here you are... Jed's been in control of this team what 12 years now? He's doing just fine after a couple mistakes.

Complaining about ownership is like pissing in the wind.

Because Eddie wanted to keep the stadium in the city in the Niners helmets. The giants got it done, the warriors got it done, your telling me the Niners wouldn't have eventually gotten it done in SF? The stumbling block was mayor Gavin Newsom. He was already on his way out of SF. The niner stadium would have eventually been built at candlestick point and Santa Clara wouldn't be an issue today.

all y'all can say Jed is "the owner" all you want. Might be in title only. Jed's got no sway. He might be the front man when things are going swimmingly but as soon as they start winning 5-6 games a year and the players are running the asylum, the parents gotta make an appearance to get S straightened out. When S is going wrong, the elder York shows up from OHIO. If Jed wanted to sell half the 49ers I'm sure Jed would make that decision all on his own right? Again……CMON…….

To give credit where credit is due, Jerry Jones showed the NFL how to operate like a major corporation with multiple business opportunities. He raised the bar many levels to where it is now. He brought in mega-corporations such as AT&T. Jed would not have Levis as a sponsor were it not for the groundbreaking of Jerry Jones, who I personally never liked as a person but admired as a businessman.

I don't disagree with you there. Its just the last 25+ years of him being the GM. He had the balls to fire Landry and hire Jimmy Johnson. The fans hated him for that until they started winning again. But then he thought he was the sole reason for the success and hasn't won anything once that team fell apart.

in some level like the yankees or the lakers the cowboys being good is good for the NFL. cowboys 49ers those 90s tilts are some of the best maybe the best.

Yea, I don't think people are going to bat for Jones as a quality owner in terms of the product on the field, especially in recent years. That said, he has at least achieved championships, which have eluded the York ownership since they took over. Is it the end all be all when measuring the quality of ownership? I'd say no, but that doesn't make it any less laughable to say Jed has established the standard of winning super bowls. It's nonsense. We've had two successful regimes under the Yorks in 2.5 decades and one blew up from internal drama in large part due of the structure of the franchise.

This post hurts, but it is true so I can't say anything.

York's are really riding on Eddie D's history/legacy. They haven't done anything in 25+ years to add to Eddie D's Legacy, in fact you could argue that they have tarnished the history of this great franchise a little bit.

If the York's would have created a new franchise and placed it in Santa Clara we would be comparing them to the Cinncinatti Bengals or or the Buffalo Bills rather than the real Candlestick Park 49ers.

You could almost say, this is a new franchise (similar to the Cleveland Browns that returned to Cleveland). We are using the same helmet logo and statistics from another teams past (Eddie D's Niners).

Yeah it's true.

That was actually a bond that added a 2% tax to hotels. The main thing is there wasn't a big bond issue that was added to the homeowners tax like so many other cities have done.

Jed woukd have preferred keeping the tem in SF but there wasn't a good site. Rebuilding on the old Cadlestick site was proposed but it would have created some logistical problems. Eddie D and Carmen Policy explored several sites in the city but they all had issues. Moving the team to santa Clara wasn't a big del like some fans think it was. Most of the fan base lived south of the staduium anyway. San Jose has a larger population than SF. The Patriots don't play in Boston. The Bills don't play in Buffalo. The NY Jets and Giants don't even play in the state of NY. The Rams and Chargers play in Inglewoood and still call themselves an LA team.

Building a football stadium in a majr city is harder than building a basball park or indoor arena. They're a lot bigger and mosr cities don't hav ethat much real estate sitting around waiting for development. Not to mention the higher prices of real estatre inside those cities.

Fix the outside of our stadium, God damn it.

IMO Jed is fantastic and I'm glad we have him. We contend almost every year and have realistic hope of winning championships. Very few teams in all of sports can say that.

I have noissues with Jed but he's not the owner. His parents are the owners.

I believe Jed actually purchased shares from his parents and is now the majority owner, IIRC.

Why? I'll never understand people being so upset that a stadium looks like a stadium. Making it look like a spaceship changes nothing other than wasting money.

They've been proactive in upgrading the in-stadium experience since it's opened, which is where the money should be spent.

Put some plaster on the thing. It looks like some kind of skeleton structure.

i've been to a lot of stadiums and most of them just feel claustrophobic and closed in. Which in certain cities, they need to be.

I like the open aired feel in the walkways at levi's compared to others
