it is true though
If you haven't paid attention for 25+ years, sure.
Have we not gone to 3 Super Bowls since he's taken over as owner? Say what you will but he's at least done his job. Unless you want an owner like Jerry Jones who takes over as GM because he thinks he can do better.
Jerry Jones won 3 Super Bowls, is self made, one of the most valuable franchises in sports. Plus at it's time they had the best stadium in the world. Since has been surpassed by more recent ones.
Yorks never won anything.
This post hurts, but it is true so I can't say anything.
York's are really riding on Eddie D's history/legacy. They haven't done anything in 25+ years to add to Eddie D's Legacy, in fact you could argue that they have tarnished the history of this great franchise a little bit.
If the York's would have created a new franchise and placed it in Santa Clara we would be comparing them to the Cinncinatti Bengals or or the Buffalo Bills rather than the real Candlestick Park 49ers.
You could almost say, this is a new franchise (similar to the Cleveland Browns that returned to Cleveland). We are using the same helmet logo and statistics from another teams past (Eddie D's Niners).
Yeah it's true.
No it isn't. How many teams changed their names as a result of a change of ownership? Yet you want to pretend that this should happen with us. And the change remains within the family.
The Cleveland Browns didn't change their name when they returned to Cleveland either. But it was a completely different ownership group.
I wasn't focusing on a name change as much as I was talking about the culture change. I was simply pointing out that the only thing that hasn't changed post Eddie D is the name and the helmet logo.
The team didn't change. The fans didn't change. And the ownership remained in the same family. They played at the same ground. Same practice ground.
The Browns didn't return to Cleveland. They slunk off in the night to Baltimore. And then, in due course, the NFL put a new team into Cleveland and pretended that they were the Browns,
