Papa York don't own the team anymore. Jed does and Jed wants to win and doesn't care about how much he spends to win. That's what I like about him

How many times have the Yorks "WON" in 24 years?

2000 - 2024.

0 - 24 years.

3 Super Bowl appearances and probably more superbowl appearances and hopefully a victory. Jed spends unlike his father. Jed wants to win just like Eddie D.

Having ownership with a long family tie to the team is a blessing. For those who do not know, the DeBartolo family has owned this team since the late 70s. Eddie made some mistakes early but learned his lessons and this franchise has been one of the best in the league despite recent SB struggles. There is some assurance in that personal connection.

I can't imagine what it would be like to have a billionaire owner with numerous other sports interests buying the team as an investment (see Josh Harris) but no seeming personal interest.

It's only a 10 percent stake. It's an opportune time to cash in with the franchise worth billions. We're lucky to have Jed who lets the coach and gm run the team.

Yeah he's better than John York. Haha. But that's a really LOW BAR.

24 steps in the right direction so we must be getting close to it

it is true though

If you haven't paid attention for 25+ years, sure.

Have we not gone to 3 Super Bowls since he's taken over as owner? Say what you will but he's at least done his job. Unless you want an owner like Jerry Jones who takes over as GM because he thinks he can do better.

Jerry Jones won 3 Super Bowls, is self made, one of the most valuable franchises in sports. Plus at it's time they had the best stadium in the world. Since has been surpassed by more recent ones.

Yorks never won anything.

100% this franchise has been one of the best in the league.

5 Super Bowl wins (8 SBs total)

Most NFL playoff victories: 38

Yeah, the last three SB losses sucked - some like me have seen all 5 SB wins and up to that point, undefeated in SBs. You have to get to the big game to at least have a chance, though. Have a feeling with this regime, they continue building and adding quality talent/playmakers plus being strong enough in all three phases, another SB victory will come.

i'm not sure how i would feel about that. i would like to see jed popping off after we win the SB.

It doesn't matter if they get a mega rich investor. That's not going to fix the issues on the field. The NFL has a salary cap so it's not like the NBA or MLB where they can just start spending wildly.

This post hurts, but it is true so I can't say anything.

York's are really riding on Eddie D's history/legacy. They haven't done anything in 25+ years to add to Eddie D's Legacy, in fact you could argue that they have tarnished the history of this great franchise a little bit.

If the York's would have created a new franchise and placed it in Santa Clara we would be comparing them to the Cinncinatti Bengals or or the Buffalo Bills rather than the real Candlestick Park 49ers.

You could almost say, this is a new franchise (similar to the Cleveland Browns that returned to Cleveland). We are using the same helmet logo and statistics from another teams past (Eddie D's Niners).

incorrect.

The York family owns 97 percent of the 49ers, and that is the way they expect to keep it for a long, long time.

Jed York, 43, who has served as 49ers CEO since 2010, purchased enough equity from his mother, Denise DeBartolo York, to become the principal owner of the franchise. His parents, John and Denise, will remain in their positions as co-chairs of the organization, York said.

Yup. The thread is titled the way it is for a reason, lol.

Selling a 10% stake to a non-voting partner could have a positive impact on stocking/rebuilding the team. With an extra $900,000,000 in the checking account, Jed would be much more likely to absorb some dead money hits than he might be otherwise.

Food for thought...

Jed got a new stadium built. Eddie tried for years and didn't get it done. It may not be as big and fancy as the one in LA or in Las Vegas but they did it without any taxpayer funding. If he hadn't done that then the 49ers might be in Vegas instead of the Raiders.
