Well duh.

Its just commentary not actual news.
I'm sorry, I just don't understand the fascination with Alex Smith. I can't ever recall a player that so many people have given so many chances to like they have with Smith. I mean, Steve Young was winning passing titles and MVPs, but because it took him forever to win one ring, he was crucified here.

Smith wins 16 games in 5 years and he's treated like a child prodigy. Man, I just don't get it.

if that were the case then he wouldn't have taken a pay cut, benched to start the season, and there would be no rumors about getting Vick or McNabb....

but i guess you hear what u want to

I think he was talking about being treated that way by some fans.

I still don't see what's so hard to accept about this season being make or break for Alex. He's got a year left on his contract. He steps it up this season or he's gone, simple as that. He hasn't gotten nearly as many "chances" as Ghost or anyone else would have you believe.

"Resurrection" implies that he was good in the first place.

Yes, I was talking about the fans, and I yes, I do think 5 years is plenty of time to show what a person can do (injuries or not). The NFL is a business, and there just comes a time where you have to cut your losses and move on to the next thing.

I mean, what makes this year (his 6th) any different than year 3 or year 4 or year 5? Why not give him a 7th year, or 8th or 9th year to prove to everyone that he can take this team the playoffs?

Truth is, some of you guys (including our management) are willing to take a chance on him. I'm just not. That doesn't make me a bad guy or even an Alex hater (and I certainly don't just "hear what I want to hear,"...that's the pot calling the kettle black). I just don't believe Smith has what it takes. That's called a difference of opinion.

I also wasn't condemning anyone for their belief in Alex Smith....I'm just saying I don't understand it.

Bleacher Report IS lame. It's for fans who have too much time on their hands and want to pretend to be journalists without starting their own blog.
