Because the 49ers rarely trade for players. They prefer to grow their own talent. Because the last time they traded away high picks to get a player it backfired on them. Badly. That is probably why the 49ers were never in the running for Garrett.
Actually they traded for a draft pick, not a proven player. And when they do trade for players it has helped the team more than their drafts.

Sorry I forgot about the 9ers trading for him. Dude always b***hes about money I thought we signed him as a free agent 7 times.
It's hard to keep track sometimes between the draft, free agency and trades. I don't care where the players come from as long as they can help the team.
