I don't love/hate this signing. I don't know wtf he's going to look like under Shanny's offense and around elite talent.

I wondered though, what his career would have looked like if he was drafted by Niners or Patriots instead of Jets. What would Jimmy G, Purdy or Lance look like if they were unfortunate to go down the path he had to?

Maybe they would've caught mono by a f**king ghost too Nobody knows

Darnold's issue is his head. That doesn't change based on what team you are drafted to. He never had it mentally.

If guys like Orlovsky, Rapoport or Simms really think this guy can lead the team to a NFC championship game, there´s two options, they´re dumb or someone is telling them to say that.
Just imagine Sam Darnold in that divisional round game against Dallas with Parsons and Dan Quinn´s defense in front of him. You think he would have stayed calm and not make any mistakes like Purdy in the second half when on the other side Dak crumbled under the pressure?
This "Sam Darnold is a really good QB" thing is really weird. It´s like nobody watched his games.
He has talent don´t get me wrong but the way he plays the game he will always be mediocre at best. Let´s hope Kyle is a magician I guess.

As a USC fan I have followed Darnold. He can play, he just got put in horrible situations with the Jets and Panthers. Now he has playmakers all around him and a playcaller who can put him in positions to succeed. At this point I'd trust him more than Lance.
Sam is as young as rookie Hendon Hooker and only one year older than Kenny Pickett
So why is a guy like this drafted so high if he has all these "issues"?

A need for teams drafting high

the best prospects often go to the worst teams, and those are often not favorable situations to thrive. If you are a QB and your OL doesn't block, your WRs don't get open, your backs don't get YPC, your coach doesn't have a plan, you are up the creek, with no paddle.

This. Not sure how many times this needs to be said.
Orlowski's a dunce, I guess it takes one failed QB to know one.

Solid post.

And he played a lot better at the end of last season w/Panthers.

Maybe Wilks said something to KS/JL??

He wasn't that good at USC, so why should he be good in the NFL?

Dude had 5 TOs in 4 of those 6 last games. They ran the snot out of the ball and gave him easy underneath stuff. His last couple games are being exaggerated greatly if you watch them.
