Sam Darnold is our number 2 quarterback.

let that sink in. Anyone who has paid even the slightest attention to football outside of the Bay Area knows who Sam darnold is!! With the way we go through QB's, Brock WILL get hurt. And Sam darnold
will be our starter!!!! WOW!!!
Doesnt exactly scream Super Bowl here we come!

I'm ok with either one as the 2nd qb. With CMC and Deebo, Darnold can play the dink and dunk and the occasional medium and deep. My only concern with Darnold is the inexperience with the offense.

I think he will be good for us, if needed. He's had to learn a new O, every offseason basically. He's used to it. These weapons and KS will carry him, if he is out there. He's looked crisp this preseason. I actually see a lot of Brock in his game, great short area quickness, can ad lib and keep eyes downfield, etc.

Put Cohn on suicide watch.. lol he's going to go ballistic. Lmao

I don't wish him death, but if an incidental benefit of this move is that Grant Cohn finds a new profession, that's a win-win.

Most of the really good teams wouldn't make it to the Superbowl if they had to play their backup.

We are the exception with our injury track record. Darnold has thrown 61 TD's to 55 INT's; I trust Darnold throwing beyond the sticks way less than I trusted Jimmy, whos ratio is vastly superior to Darnold: 87 TD's to 42 INT's. I thought every long throw by Jimmy was going to be picked. It will be the same/worse feeling with Darnold.

We were told the QB2 would be announced before the season opener, but likely not before this game. We were told the Niners had no trade market for Lance, so almost certainly they're just going to hold onto him this year. The Nick Bosa contract negotiations drag on. Money needs to be found for future years of his monster contract. Might all these pieces fit together? Shanahan is satisfied Darnold is a better prospect than Lance in his system, so it's just time to own the horrendous draft trade (not Lance's fault, in fairness), cut losses, move him for some value and free future cap space? Makes sense to me, considering their QB4 is probably more functional than Lance also. But trade to who? Minnesota? Tampa Bay?
If Brock gets hurt we are screwed lol
Cohn has to be so mad

Nah. QB-friendly system on an all-star team. Get the ball out to the playmakers. Darnold is an accurate thrower with a powerful arm. He's more talented than Purdy, and I love Purdy. Where Purdy stands above the others is that he seems to have that Montana-like poise and savvy.
I didn't think there was any chance in hell based on all the reports I saw/heard from local writers, but admit Darnold looked good in this last game after Brockstar bowed out. Grats to Darnold on the #2.

I'm sorry were you a fan last year? That system failed miserably once the 3rd qb got hurt and the 4th guy looked like me out there then got hurt as well.

OK, if it's time for an accounting ... 1) I posted repeatedly on the stupidity of the draft trade when we were already sitting at #12; 2) I made an argument that, as bad as the trade was, Mac Jones would be the best choice of the available QBs. Jones made a Pro Bowl as a rookie; 3) I argued that if we are going to blow up the model and pick a dual threat athletic QB, we should take take Fields, who at least was tearing it up with his legs last year; and 4) The limited college tape on Lance showed a QB who has accuracy issues and whose portfolio of highlight runs were totally unrealistic, up-the-middle QB draw type plays in an inferior conference. They would not translate in the NFL.

On all counts, accurate. On all counts, shouted down by the cult. How 'bout them crows?! Eat up.

Bro, I've been a fan since the 70s. What's your point?
