Too bad he does not get a fair chance to compete for QB1.
It feels like Purdy was handed QB1 without a competition.
Take away CMC from the team last year and the numbers would be much more telling....

Give them an equal chance an assessment for gods sake so the 49ers make the best decision for their future based on actual evidence on equal circumstances.

Trey was handed QB1 without a competition last season. The way he was demoted from QB1 to not even QB2, but just competing for QB2 role, that tells me Kyle was very disappointed with Trey last season, in games and training camp.

Brock, on the other hand, has capitalized on every opportunity thrown to him.

Kyle has seen enough of of both Brock and Trey and has decided Brock is the franchise QB. Kyle doesn't owe Trey a so call "fair chance" or whatever that is.

Or it says that Brock Purdy was one of the most impressive and productive rookie QBs of all time... and Trey unfortunately is the one who takes the hit for Brock's emergence.

in which games?
I am with you that he was handed QB1 last season too, that does not make the decision better to do it again.
Put Purdy in the games Lance was and Lance in the ones Purdy got (CMC cough cough) and id be interested to see the picture painted in here then.

Again, we never saw them on equal situations, why not just do this?
I remember dropped ints and an offense that clicked when CMC came to the team.
I would not crown Purdy without an real competition.
I am afraid my 49ers will fall short again and missing out on evolving their QB Play beyond what we got from Jimmy.

The issue with this conclusion is it doesn't adequately address the fact that Trey is competing to be a backup with a FA.

If it was just Brock's emergence and there* was a full faith in Trey outside of it, Trey would be a set in stone QB2. Brock's injury would have been a perfect opportunity to continue to focus on Trey.

This was the argument that was made for months, including before the competition became a reality, based on evidence that a lot of other people rejected and assumed was the product of bias or hate.

We saw LOTS of examples where QBs got grounded after other teams had their numbers.
With 49ers it was different because of CMC.
But do you want to settle and rely on that?
Do you give Pudy 40+ Million and not being able to keep our weapons to carry the team without, lets say Aiyuk or CMC?
Does he have all the traits it takes to maybe take the team on his shoulders (rushing or throwing deep for example)?
I am not sold on that and I am afraid we throw away a chance now that Lance levels his play up finally.

This isn't the same situation. Brock established the position he's in with his play last season. Trey was handed a job based on potential and draft status.

Purdy gives me Jimmy-Vibes who 1) did not get it done and 2) we got rid of and traded 3 1sts to get "something different".

We all know Shanny loved Jimmy, so i am afraid we miss out on Lance while handing it over to purdy who was riding a wave that CMC was the main part of.
Why not let them compete with equal chances and get the best for the 49ers?

Please feel free to provide us some clips of Trey in a Niners uniform "making all the throws".

Trey basically never got the chance to show what he has in games.
Trey is mach more raw out of college than Purdy was.

My hope/fear ist, that he turns into something special with reps/experience and we miss out on him.
He raised his level this offseason dramatically if you believe reports/coaches/Lynch. Without actual games.
I am so desperate to see what he can do with some experience under his belt.

Kyle is being paid a lot of money to make decisions like this. While I don't think outsiders can evaluate Trey properly with the limited information, but Kyle and his coaches can by seeing him practice everyday. Surely seems like they evaluate Brock to be a much better prospect as a QB in the NFL at this point.

Do you really want a 4 QB race for the QB1 role, all 4 QB have equal opportunities and fair chances to win? I surely don't.

Shanahan and Co have had all the time to evaluate him. If he does turn into something thats on Shanahan. You guys love shanny yet don't trust him with Lance. Makes no sense.

It is weird. None of the Trey fanboys or Trey hardcore supporters (maybe someone can give me the proper words to describe that without being offensive) wanted to address this. They just ignore. None of them gave good explanations why Trey is not the unquestioned QB2.

At least those "Trey fanboys" as you call them stand to their opinion, hence, they GOT an opinion.
Now, whats your opinion?
Are you a Brock Fanboy?
Or even more, are you a "i trust shanahan" guy without an own opinion who moves the bandwagons as they come and go?
I expect those on this board who follow draft, OTAs, Preseason, EVEN Offseason, as fans, that cant wait for the smallest piece of information about their 49ers.
So i expect those to have some kind of opinion and stand to it (otherwise there are really much mor fun terms for those kind of people than "fanboy").

Ok, so curious now, whats YOUR stance?

I think it's probably a combination of both though, of not seeing enough consistency in Trey's game and Brock looking so good so early on. Brock was historically good, which is why the Trey saga has been much easier to stomach, for me at least.

I mean, the comment said, "that tells me Kyle was very disappointed with Trey last season, in games and training camp" yet we can barely say GAMES... plural. He's not had a lot of playing time after his first offseason working with the starters. I remember a couple of posters say that Trey was awful "all season long" which was essentially 1 game and 1 drive LOL.

I know that is repeated a lot, but I feel like it needs to be... how can a coach have a confident opinion about a player, one way or another, without a lot of regular season film? Maybe he can from practice, but then I would argue that he should have known Brock was as good as he was before being thrown in there and we shouldn't have brought back Jimmy.

My question to you is, do you see scenario in which you believe KS that he's actually high/confident in Trey, while Trey isn't playing?

Because I'm not sure I believe many of you that if Kyle named Trey the backup that you would have changed your stance on him.

If you would, then I do see your point here. But I just doubt it.

Not always an admirable trait my friend.
