The issue with this conclusion is it doesn't adequately address the fact that Trey is competing to be a backup with a FA.
If it was just Brock's emergence and there* was a full faith in Trey outside of it, Trey would be a set in stone QB2. Brock's injury would have been a perfect opportunity to continue to focus on Trey.
This was the argument that was made for months, including before the competition became a reality, based on evidence that a lot of other people rejected and assumed was the product of bias or hate.
I think it's probably a combination of both though, of not seeing enough consistency in Trey's game and Brock looking so good so early on. Brock was historically good, which is why the Trey saga has been much easier to stomach, for me at least.
I mean, the comment said, "
that tells me Kyle was very disappointed with Trey last season, in games and training camp" yet we can barely say GAMES... plural. He's not had a lot of playing time after his first offseason working with the starters. I remember a couple of posters say that Trey was awful "all season long" which was essentially 1 game and 1 drive LOL.
I know that is repeated a lot, but I feel like it needs to be... how can a coach have a confident opinion about a player, one way or another, without a lot of regular season film? Maybe he can from practice, but then I would argue that he should have known Brock was as good as he was before being thrown in there and we shouldn't have brought back Jimmy.
My question to you is, do you see scenario in which you believe KS that he's actually high/confident in Trey, while Trey isn't playing?
Because I'm not sure I believe many of you that if Kyle named Trey the backup that you would have changed your stance on him.
If you would, then I do see your point here. But I just doubt it.
