Agreed about Purdy, as I've said a few times, he really exposed Jimmy and Trey's weaknesses. He seems to fit perfectly with Kyle and they look unstoppable together.

Unstoppable until he didn't step up into the pocket

Or maybe we shouldn't have had a backup TE trying to go one on one versus one of the NFL's best pass rushers?

Funny how we take cerebral QBs able to audible or call TOs and turn them into puppets whenever a play doesn't go right.

Maybe we should stop being hindsight captains, pretending as if we should easily be able to predict season-changing injuries?

We can be upset about injuries and STILL not pretend like we're injury and playcalling experts based on past events. Give me some clue on future events if this is the card we're going to play. I mean I'll have no choice but to buy in.

They aren't embarrassed when it doesn't work They move on and keep trying. They did that when they drafted Brock. They wouldn't have done so if Lance had worked out.

I can't be embarrassed about a team that has one of the top 3 rosters in the league from top to bottom.

Also there's no guarantee if we kept those future first round picks that we would've got an impact player at pick 28 and 29. However that pick number 12 most likely hurt us more.

Pick number 12 became #3. If they had stayed put and drafted Jones we would still be looking for a franchise QB. Maybe they wouldn't have drafted Purdy.

I don't think Trey fits in SF/Kyle at all, but I agree. Conditional 2nd is a joke. Conditional 1st maybe (depending what the conditions are). I might go for two 2nds if it's a bad enough team.

You don't have to be a "hindsight captain" nor a "play calling expert" to know that having a 3rd string TE pass block a premier edge rusher on a long pass play is not a good idea.

I think a 2nd is the best we could get personally and that's not from a Trey hater. I just don't see why a team would by high on a stock that hasn't done much of anything but has potential.

He was a rookie in his 9th start playing in a hostile environment in an nfc championship game. Kyle called the play and put him in that position.

Brock haters: he should have audibled or stepped up. He f**king sucks.

Same guys: trey needs at least three years to develop.

Potential is all that draft picks are. At least with Trey teams have seen that the game isn't too big for him to handle. He's just not the best fit in SF. If a team's offense has a good amount of RPO, Trey is a great prospect for that.

Lol exactly. If we really want to get crazy with this, why is Brock a "cerebral QB," but Trey needs years of development and a full season of games to assess? Seems racist to me.

We will just have to respectfully disagree. I think Trey has potential to be a good QB in the league but he also could be just another 1st round QB bust. He hasn't been on the field enough to say he's either good or bad.

What an embarrassment this Trey thing has turned into

It really has turned into a huge embarrassment, how to completely waste three first round draft picks... there is a huge backstory as to how this came to be that probably won't be known for many years until all the key actors are no longer on the scene. What has been incredible is how the franchise has been able to thrive and overcome this monumental blunder, much of that was hitting the jack pot when they picked Brock Purdy.

It was more than just a gamble... it was betting the farm. And not only was it a miss, it was barely even a try... I am convinced Shanny did not get "his guy", or else there would have at least been a better attempt at developing him. The Niners used 3 1sts and a 3rd for the guy and those picks turned into the Dolphins picking up 3 key pieces that massively advanced their franchise. The guy we got with all that capital is now worth a conditional 2nd... allegedly. Embarrassing.

Are jokes really that hard, man? Bottom line is Purdy is being blamed for a bad protection call by Kyle, yet Trey is given excuse after excuse. Trey has had more time to learn the offense. Why the vastly different standards?

I really hope Lance goes to ATL.
It will be hilarious if Brock turns out to be like Foles who caught lightning in a bottle for a short time, then reverted back to mediocre.
If Lance kills it in Atlanta this thread will become historically funny.
