We did for the right price.

That Ian Rappoport tweet a week or so ago might as well have been written by John Lynch it was that transparent.

By that reasoning the only player on the roster who is untouchable imo is Bosa. There is nobody who can fill his shoes.

Everyone else could be traded if the offer was THAT ridiculous.

Nobody was offering anything ridiculous for Lance therefore almost everyone understood he wasnt being traded. It made no sense at this time.

The main reasons it's not as attractive to trade him last week are the Cap hit (makes more sense to trade him later) and Brock's injury uncertainty.

Obviously the attractiveness of trading him before the Draft is the ability to turn that into picks/players for this season.

There's a bit of a difference between Bosa (where Lynch said don't bother calling at the pre-Draft press conference) and Lance where they were trying to drum up interest in Lance.

Throw in the Darnold signing and the writing is on the wall for Lance. It feels like last chance saloon this offseason for Trey.

I don't put much weight into Darnold other than the move made sense for both sides as far as risk vs rewards goes. My point is the signing isn't any kind of message to Trey. Its a 3rd qb with experience, who is still very young and Kyle may be able to help. I think they are fine with a healthy Purdy and Lance. Darnold was just a nice surprise with no real risk.

Lance is worth next to nothing right now. If he shows well in camp thats good...then starts and plays well? Even better... he's simply more valuable once he gets to show more trade or no trade etc. After last year I couldn't imagine them spreading thin at QB.

They never tried to drum up interest. This was just fabricated by guys like Tinkle and Sheen. The one year signing of Darnold was because Purdy is still questionable.

Yeah I hear what you are saying.

I guess with Darnold time will tell this offseason.

They did try to drum up interest. Look at Rappoport's tweet. It's as plain as day.

This reminds me of a decade ago in here where people refused to believe that there were issues between Baalke and Harbaugh. Everything was fabricated and the big bad media were out to get us......

Darnold gonna give TL a run for his money and that's what you want, imagine at RB do we want crap RBs next to Mitch to guarantee him the two spot? why do ppl want that at QB and not any other position?

There's a big difference between the Harbaugh and Shanahan regimes.

Do you forget how many reporters promised the 49ers were drafting Mac Jones?

It's not that I think it's impossible they would actively try to trade him… it's that these reports are very suspect and you should understand how many "reports" are based off nothing but pure speculation.

because their evaluation is based on emotion, they "believe" in TL, while ignoring his performances...

Yes the Darnold signing. A QB with such a fine history of excellent play, I'm surprised they didn't just cut Trey and give Darnold the team all to himself...

Obviously Trey will have to show a big improvement this camp but Darnold is not some huge threat. We can speculate what the media said and how much of it came from the 49ers but fact is what they've said publicly and what they've actually done publicly points to them still believing in Trey but obviously with Brock having a leg up as QB1 due to how he performed last season.
