i didn't expect Lance to get traded during the draft, and it obviously didn't happened. I've always thought that IF he was traded, it would be only after we nailed down Purdy's timeline. I don't think we've even signed a fourth qb, right?

if I'm not mistaken, the guys can go out on the field with the coaches in a few weeks, per kyle. I wonder if the media will get to attend. I'm super curious how lance looks now with his improved throwing motion. Eager to hear how he looks and what he's been working on.

And probably when we wouldn't lose cap money to trade him—that is, after June 1st. Which conveniently gives him a chance to show he has improved his accuracy during OTAs.

trey doesnt LOOK a certain way and brock does

Brock certainly has much better hair.

Regardless, the anti-Trey people need to come to terms with the fact that he's a quarterback, and we're not going to trade him unless we can get another quarterback who could contribute as much as he could. He's capable of babysitting the offense. The likes of Josh Johnson, not so much. He's going nowhere unless ALL of the following is true: (1) The compensation is enough to offset the cap penalty; (2) the compensation is enough to make them not look stupid; (3) there is an available QB who is good enough and cheap enough to at worst be a lateral move; (4) the compensation is enough to offset the fact that whoever replaces him will need time to learn the system and be competent enough in it to play; (5) the 49ers are confident Brock Purdy will be back sooner rather than later and not have any lingering issues; (6) the 49ers are confident Sam Darnold will be able to digest the playbook and play well early enough for trading Trey to not hurt the team.

All that adds up to it being unlikely they trade him any time soon, and especially unlikely they trade him before June 1st. And the longer the team goes without trading him, the less likely he will be traded—unless a team has an injury at the QB position, or their own QBs underwhelm in camp, or something like that. And of course, Sam Darnold showing out in camp, and Brock Purdy not having any unforeseen setbacks.

So if he's traded, it's probably going to be after minicamp.
It's all arguments from stupidity. It's useless words on meaningless blogs. Purdy aint gonna be ready for the start of the season but he has earned his shot at starter. Lance has flashed and earned the coaches trust enough to kick JG to 2nd string even when JG was earning a high salary.

Stop with the trade BS, stop with everything else... it makes half the zone look like lemmings. Some analyst said Darnold will get meaningful reps? weird why would anyone say that in the offseason? IDK maybe its how Deebo was never gonna play a game in a niners uniform again... Come on fan base, lets be better than the talking heads. Lance will still get his shot, it's lined up perfectly for him since Brock wont be in the picture for awhile. Darnold wont see the field unless there is an injury or Lance absolutely flops. I have a bridge to sell anyone who thinks Darnold has a chance at starting outright over Lance.

If he improves his accuracy, great! I'm all for it.

i think he has a chance here with the upcoming OTAs to convince the coaches to keep him here, for sure. I genuinely think the team is leaning towards trading him but he can change their minds with a good performance, no doubt.
I read were Minnesota won't trade cousins till after June cause it will cost them like 38 million to trade him now. The niners were linked to him at the combine. I feel like they may trade for him after June and Lance may be part of that trade.

Unless we plan on bringing in a player post June 1 I don't really see the point in trading him. After CMC restructured we are doing fine capwise.

Unless a team gives us a reasonable offer, which I don't think they will, cap savings in 2023 isn't that important.

I can't for the life of me fathom why they'd want Cousins when they have Brock. Unless he just won't be able to play any time soon.

If I were trading Lance though, I'd make it as part of a deal to get an underdeveloped but talented DE, like Chase Young.

Yah I'm not sure why Shanahan wants Cousins so much. I've changed my tune on him and I'd much rather just stay with Brock Purdy. I also would love that trade if it were Chase Young.
It is significant that none of the four former coaches/front office personnel that left SF in the last couple of years, who have inside knowledge of TL, had zero interest in trading for him... they got a close up look see and they know he isn't an NFL caliber starting QB. they all needed QBs and went in another direction:

Saleh NYJ (signed Rodgers, one of the best ever to good to pass up)
Carthon TN (drafted Levis, could have easily traded for TL but passed)
Ryans Houston (drafted Stroud went #2, similar to the TL draft slot, if DR still thought TL was a viable #3 pick he would have tried to work a deal)
McDanieal Miami (TBD, possible but unlikely to trade now, if McD wanted him he would have brought him in now for OTAs and not wait)

The Minnesota rumors may just be that only... could see something in the next month after the June 1st discount, but the TL trade value will plummet by the time the season starts and he is the 3rd QB on the roster and not suiting up for game days.

Lance vs Brock is about as apples to apples comparison as you're going to find. Now I will grant trey didn't have cmc, and that's absolutely a fair argument.

I mean it's actually not that close.

Brock had Kittle/CMC/BA/Mitchell and Deebo (for a portion) plus an offensive line that had time to actually jell.

Lance has had Kittle for one game vs the Texans. Never had CMC. Lost Mitchell at the beginning of the bears game. Toss in WK1 rust a a whole different IOL that played like crap that game. I mean deebo's biggest play of the Bears game was fumbling the ball in the RZ

so no, it's not the same if we're being objective. I'm also not anti anyone. Brock made the most of his opportunities. He should be QB1 if healthy. He's not and who the f**k knows how any of his recovery goes and how he will be from a physical/mental standpoint.

Wasn't just IOL that played poorly in that Chicago game. Bears 5th round rookie basically called out Trent Williams after the game as he had 1.5 sacks which game in key moments in that game.

Dude didn't miss a game due to injury and finished the season with the same 1.5 sacks. But some here want to act like Lance got the same experience as Jimmy and Brock were gettign later in the season once the line got time to figure out their stuff.

That's what's so frustrating to me. We didn't even get a legit view of what Trey would've been this past season let alone what he can be this season.

Sure would be nice for this team to figure out why they come out playing like s**t early in the season and just get to their mid season form out of the gate like in 2019 and this time close it out with a win.

Who would the 49ers cut to clear room for a guy ego is not as good as Brock Purdy?

Man you just love to talk a lot of garbage with nothing behind it right?

First of all, Saleh wasn't here when we drafted Lance.
Second Carthon and Ryans are both in situations where they don't have full control. Ran has a strong HC in Vrabel to work with and Ryans has Casserio calling the shots.
McDaniel has Tua and they had even less draft picks than us. You really didn't even try to think this thing through did you?

There is also the fact that Trey already has 2 years off his rookie contract in the books. Which means you really get 1 year, maybe 2 to get a strong evaluation on him and then you have to pay him or likely get into a gross situation with him. Neither team makes sense to get that going.

You also have 0 idea what was offered or what offer would've been enough for the 49ers to make the move. So stop projecting things without that information.

I can just as easily say Titans wanted to give the 49ers their first and second rounders but we didn't think it was enough for Trey.

There is just as much proof of what I said being correct as you insinuating those teams didn't want Trey.

It was an off hit where Purdy got hurt.

Cousins is older and slower.

Isn't it telling that the Vikings want anyone but Cousins to be their QB?
