The only thing that could change in 4 years is his strength. He won't be any faster. The issue is that he was drafted specifically for his physical traits.

Since Lance needs refinement when it comes to the rhythm passing game, I think there are ways to gameplan around that until he develops there. Kyle can adopt what he did with RG3 with a heavy dose of read-option and playaction off the read-option to dial up some intermediate shots behind the underneath defenders and in front of safeties. With a week to install an offense for Lance, I'm anxious to see what it will look like.

Ppl with agendas have agendas.

I think the issue is the fact that we don't have an experienced backup behind Jimmy this year and are riding that role with a rookie. You expect the backup to know the game plan and to have prepared like the starter over the week so they can come in and not skip a beat. Add to this the reality that our Starting QB is injury prone we should all expecting a little more from the backup. The solution IMO is to have 3 QB's on the roster so we always have a veteran back there that can execute the actual game plan in an emergency while we prepare Trey for the future.

We need a starter who doesn't do this:

Ypure acting as if Seattle was just playing a garden variety defense there.

This is what I find quite perplexing. People put a sound bite in plays like this, but Seattle was running an invert-2 something I've only seen them run maybe 2 times in 3 or 4 years. Very rare for them. Changes up the key read defenders. The fact that they felt the need to do this should say something and Diggs made a great play, Jimmy even pump fake and it didn't move Diggs much.

Also, I've seen this so many times. Teams will disguise and shift coverage pre-post like crazy. Yet people act like teams are just gonna come out and squat down cause they ain't worried.

You act like NFL teams don't run rubber coverages off of a disguised shell each and every game. This is very common in the NFL. It's a disguised shell with a robber over the middle, which is literally done all the time. The problem here is that Jimmy has poor field vision. This isn't some isolated incident. More importantly, he was looking in that direction. His eyes passed right over this defender as he went to his second read, and he was looking in that general direction. There was maybe 6 yards of space between Kittle and Diggs.

Im not biased. If he impressed me I'd be jumping up and down with excitement. I've been a 49er fan since 1984. I'm being objective, and I'm not the only one who sees it.

A common jimmy story. That ball needed to be OUT and on kittle as he cleared the underneath guy/came out of his break. Jimmy is a half second late too often. That turns a first down into a turnover

We can say this about either qb. The same people arguing that he put up 15 points in a half are the same ones who said our offense led by Jimmy putting up 28 points in 30 minutes of play was, "figured out" and, "so easy to defend".

Just pointing out the double standard. It goes both ways.

Lance showed a ton of potential, but also showed how raw he is. Of course I think most backups in the league are going to look like that with limited reps during the week and especially a guy as raw as Lance is.

Anyone supposing this game means he'll be all-world or is 💩 is just trying to argue points on a message board to kill time between games.

He did not outperform the starter. Knock it off.

Take out the blown coverage by Seattle, and he was 47% completions for 80 yards.
WITH the blown coverage, he was 50% completions for 150 yards.

The veteran starter was 61% completions for 165 yards. Jimmy was much more effective and much more efficient. And he wasn't playing against a garbage time defense either.

All that said, if Jimmy can go he needs to go. Trey needs more development.
