So eerily similar to the 49ers dilemma in the late 80's and early 90's. Tough as it was I think we made the right choice. The Patriots made a different choice, both wise in the short term and dumb in the long term. And great for us.

I don't think they had much of a choice with not trading him. He was drafted in 2014, which would've made him a FA in 2018. They dont trade him, they lose him for nothing possibly. Other option is franchise tag him 2 years in a row and pay over 60 mil for a back up. And thats without knowing how bad Brady was gonna be this year.

They did have a choice, though.

Kraft pulled rank on Belichik. It worked out with another title, but Bill knew he had an opportunity for more long term with Jimmy G. Left to his own decisions Bill would have jettisoned Brady ala the "better to get rid of them a year too early than a year too late" philosophy. The 49ers benefited from Kraft's sentimentality.

This feels like the end of an era for the Pats dynasty

It does. At least as presently constructed. They need more weapons and Brady is not getting any younger, so I don't see them getting better in time to make use of Brady, nor do I see them finding a suitable replacement for Brady very soon. Garoppolo was that guy and they traded him away. Not smart.
They've won a Superbowl and have been to two since the trade that brought us Jimmy....I'm sure that more than makes up for it.

I very much doubt it. Sure, at the time. But it fast becomes history. We know this. Patriots time is over.

Edelman arrested and released on vandalism charges lol
Patriots early exit sending a few players a little stir crazy.
Certainly puts an emphasis on the "riots" in patriots.
Reports are rampant that Brady feels ," embarrassed," by his salary numbers and wants out of N.E..
How are you the "QB GOAT," and you get paid like and ANDY FOOKIN DALTON gets $5 mill more than you? Brady never even topped $20 million .

Seeing how Brady willingly took less money, these reports make no sense.

So 20 years later, Brady and his agent finally realized that hes underpayed and should be making more money? Lol...and what about the times when Brady with his own mouth said hes okay with taking less money since it makes the team better?

Brady never needed more money with his wife making as much as she does. Doesn't make sense to change now
Brady's ego needs to be checked.

He did this himself. It's similar to Dwyane Wade with Miami (he was never their highest paid player). But Brady did this himself his entire career. Now he wants to cash out? Okay....
