I love what Deebo did in 2021 but you do not pay for what a player did in the past ! You pay for future production. Give Deebo's $$$$ to Bosa. Get some real draft capital ( MUST BE MULTIPLE PICKS ). If you think back before 2021 you know you thought Brandon Aiyuk was the future 2020 season 60 catches/ 748 yards / 5 TD vs Deebo who had 33 catches / 391 yards / 1TD or 2019 Deebo 57 catches/ 802yards / 3 TD's. Sorry that just does not say $25 Million dollars a year period ! No Team wins a super bowl because of a WR not even Jerry Rice. Deebo is a gadget player, I remember reading mid season of 2021 that we have tried to sign Cordelle Patterson the last two times he has been a FA. Deebo is a creation of the offense and the fact that Kyle wanted a prototype for this role in the last few years proves it. This will be a true test of Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch. Can Kyle keep his personal feelings out of the negotiation and will Lynch get the right trade package if we let him go. Go Sign Jarvis Landry and get some rookie talent in the room.

All will be ok, not sure that 2022 will be our year with a new ( pseudo rookie ) QB, I would NOT sign Deebo or give in to his tantrum. Do not get me wrong BIG fan of his 2021 season , seems like a great human being just doesnt warrant $25 Million and bunch of Guaranteed $$$$$ ........ See Dee Ford !

Go Niners

Nice post I like Landry as well. BA, Kittle, Landry, JJ, TL showing why he was the pick, Eli at RB... you can win a SB with that esp with best FB and LT in the game, Bosa, Warner. Use the draft to juice up the secondary or interior OL. Think of the future cash at our disposal as well with no long term $25m annual Deebo hit.

This is a bad take. Football isn't won like this. Having bigger names and one guy on our offensive line doesn't mean we are going to make the playoffs, let alone win the Super Bowl. We have absolutely no idea what kind of leap Lance will make, and besides, the football is all about matchups.

That's what makes Deebo so valuable. There is literally no way to matchup or gameplan for him. He's everywhere and even when he doesn't have the ball he's affecting the defense. Juscyzk is nice and he'll catch a ball here and there, but he's not a game breaker.

If he doesn't want to be a 49er than Fuk em

The problem is… can we truly maximize this draft capital we obtain for him?

I know I keep saying this but we could potentially get an all pro center and SS/corner.

But we might also draft a bust WR with our first rounder.

That's what I'm worried about.

You could also draft a bust interior OL or DB with the first round pick. Nothing is guaranteed.

And with no pick until 61, how much homework have we done on the top 20 or so prospects in this class? Might be a detriment to trade Deebo now and take a player in the top half of round one...

If the front office hasn't evaluated every player then it's over before it starts. That would be elementary school bad.

I didn't say they didn't evaluate every player, just wondering if we perhaps haven't been as in depth in looking at some of the top kids in this class, as you don't expect them to be available to you.

A diva? A few months ago some of you would have let him bang your wives. He was humble and amazing and a 49er for life. Now because he wants more money and/or doesn't like the way he's being used he's a diva? Fickle much?

Doesn't help with the narrative the FO is garbage

get 1st rounder and Brian Burns back

trade down like crazy after that

This would be comically large value compared to the Hill or Adams deals.

Carolina isn't the team they have huge payouts coming for DJ Moore, Robby Anderson and wouldn't flip #6 imo.. Plus Deebo doesn't want to run and they have Darnold at QB how would that even work

WRs have historically been divas. So he might be . It's still the front office problem to overcome.

Pretty much.

I would feel a lot different about the situation if I had confidence in the 49ers' being able to maximize a hypothetical first-round pick in return for Deebo. Unfortunately, people who are celebrating a potential first-round pick seem to forget Reuben Foster, Solomon Thomas, Mike McGlinchey, and Javon Kinlaw. Nick Bosa was a gimme pick. They get zero credit for that one. The 49ers have been awful in the first-round, and the chances they draft someone that isn't good is very high.

The likelihood they draft someone who can elevate the team like Deebo is virtually impossible.

I know we're probably going to trade him for picks (or one high pick). But I really don't want to. You miss on that pick (which is much more likely than hitting on it) and you're sunk.

I would rather get a player back in a trade. Don't know if that's possible though.

Way to contradict yourself in the same sentence.
The dude is liking tweets of him in a cowboys uniform. Never went from having a ton of respect for a player to absolutely zero. He can go suck a 🍆

Lol… but again I don't think trading Buckner was the problem.

The problem was not trading down with that first pick. This roster would be so much better IMO had we traded down.

This roster would have been so much better had we not blown that pick we got for Buckner (so far).

All diva WRs don't start out as the way they ended up
