So far it's been a stellar pick

A lot of the fan base is pissed he's been good so far. As soon as he has a bad game (which is inevitable) they'll be chirping about being "right" about him.

Oh, for sure. There's a contingent of posters on here that are badly wishing for McGlinchey to be a bust so they can throw their little temper tantrums and say, "I told you so."
I didn't see it coming at first and was a little unsure, but after we traded Brown it made a lot more sense. He's been a great selection no doubt.

All this talk about how we had a "serviceable" OT already. but it was clear he wasn't suited to what Kyle wanted to do. Getting someone who can get a couple years experience while Staley is still around and potentially be an 8-10 year player for us is pretty valuable. If we hadn't have gotten him we would have had an aging Staley and an off contract Brown.

uh, Brown has now dropped to #48 in the PFF rankings.

FWIW, here are the relative ratings for Staley, McGlinchy and Brown:

Player Pass Pro Run Blocking
Staley 79 65
McGlinchy 59 86 (His PP before this last game was 54, IIRC)
Brown 59 61 about the same ratings the past two weeks

I Like Mac!

Nice so we traded a good player to draft a similar one in the top 10 all while ignoring other needs.

Bless your heart...one is 9th overall and the other is 46th.

One is continuing on at about the same level while the other is on a big upswing.

MM is proving to be the awesome run blocker he was in college. At the same time, he has brought his season-long PP grade up 10 points in the past two weeks. AND, he will be a TON cheaper next season than Brown would have been...had we kept him.

Ok. Fine but trent was fine player. We could have used the pick on another position.

The knock on him here last season was his poor run blocking. That is continuing in NE. His PFF ratings is at "replacement" level...and his PP is low also.

If you have watched him, his range is about as big as a phone booth.

No, thank you. I'll take the rook every time.
