Gonna quote myself:

Wow, this is a lot coming from a guy who's injury prone Now ILB is a bigger FA & draft priority than before . We cannot go into FA and the draft thinking this position is solved. A message has to be sent, so we have to spend a bit in FA and draft a starting caliber ILB that will at least push Foster for playing time. This team is too close, have made too much progress to be scarred by immaturity at key positions. Not saying cut him or anything, but cover our a$$es. We simply cannot afford to be too dependent on players who have shown themselves to be irresponsible in judgement. We got a good enough whiff of that with Aldon Smith, remember? (To my mind we still haven't found a consistent pass-rusher since.) It's bad enough that this guy has problems staying healthy. But NOW THIS?!? Poor judgement; maybe that's why the green dot was taken away from him. Can't have your Mike LB displaying poor judgement with making adjustments.

Look, I'm for the FULL legalization of weed. This nation needs to grow the f#@k up. But it's still illegal nationally, and immaturely banned in the NFL. Dude, move to California where it's legal and where you're not likely to caught up for it.

This bothers me on so many levels I think Lynch and Shanny need to address his position in FA and the draft to send a message to the rest of the team.

This is a stain on his career and our image during a time we've worked so hard to build up right before FA.

These players have massive counsel as to what is and isn't legal and have many resources to get out of bad situations.

The fact that he stained his top 5 draft status to the end of the first round, now stained his rebuilt image of a premier player and our organization is of great concern!

Was alcohol and pot no big deal for Aldon? When a person is still doing that crap despite knowing the risks and even after 2nd chances is when there should be great concern.

This kid is going to need a lot of counseling and a major change of lifestyle and Norton Jr. will have his work cut out for him.

Aldon Smith talent. Aldon Smith brain? Hopefully not...

I agree. There should be great concern for this kid because he could blow the greatest opportunity he will ever have in life. That being said, if I were to put myself in his position I don't know how well I would handle going from rags to riches over night in my early 20's. There is a s**t ton of pressure on these kids when they mess up they need counsel and support just as much as they need discipline.

The thing is these guys are always doing stupid s**t. I think the "it's only weed" sentiment is relating to the other b******t we've seen (rape, domestic violence, etc....), IMO smoking pot isn't in the same galaxy as those types of offenses.

I don't think this stains us because I'm sure a high percentage of the league is doing it too just for the pain relief aspect. Foster is the only one that looks bad for the reasons you stated. However, this is something at this point I'm not willing to cut ties over. Hopefully, this is the final wake up call that's needed and he gets this taken care of. Also, hopefully seeing Foster get popped is a warning to any of the other guys on the team doing it to be careful. I'm sure we've got others as well.

I was not a fan of Foster coming out of college. I thought he was an idiot. Then I got to see a little bit of him through interviews and I started to like him a lot more. He's always smiling and seems to be a great teammate and nice person. I smoke weed almost every day so I have no issues with him smoking weed. He just has to get some friends here in California to show him the way. I'm sure he went back home to see some of his old friends that probably don't have his best interest in mind but are just trying to latch on to him. I hope that someone can reach out to him and let him know that he has to be very selective about who he stays in contact with from his past because in all honesty he has little in common with those people anymore, his is going to be a wealthy man and nfl star which puts him on a level the us commoners can't relate to. Hopefully someone like Norton sees some potential in him or maybe even better would be Foster finds a mentor in the league or on the team that he can latch onto and help guide him through his transition to stardom.

I believe in you 56. You made a mistake. Learn from it and move on.

I actually support this message, very well explained. Nice people will be taken advantage of. But don't forget where you came from, stay humble.

Truth

Agreed.. Both of you.

U smoke grass too Buz?

Slow the breaks, man. At this point, he made a mistake. Let's see how he responds before we start playing the Aldon Smith card. There's a long way to go between getting caught with weed and crashing your car on someone's property after a night of heavy drinking, or shooting off guns in a crowd.

My biggest concern is the draw of his friends back home. He'll eventually need to sever ties if they are going to be putting him him illegal situations. Tough thing to do, but he's got to look out for his own interests first and foremost.

3 mistakes.

1. Diluded sample of which we can probably deduce it was to avoid cannabis detection
2. Confrontation waiting for his medical (kicked out of the combine)
3. This arrest

The first two cost him millions of dollars and the 3rd probably a couple game checks and more proof this kid is immature and poor at life decisions. We're only one year into his career. The FO will not give him the passes we as fans do.

And this may not be all. We recently found out there were two other incidents with Rashard Robinson that lead to his trade so don't be surprised if there's been other in-house concerns.

1 incident, you can write it off as young and dumb but 2, 3, etc.?

Foster went berserk during the combine because he was about to get caught on a drug test. Cause his stock to drop in the draft. You'd think he had learned from that.

Not sure he's going to learn to be smarter after this incident either.
Reuben does what Reuben wants.

In all seriousness, this is why we need a good veteran presence on both sides of the ball. They young budding stars need direction and guys to help and hold them accountable. We need a Willis/Cowboy type. I wonder if it would of made a difference if Bow was still on the team.

Did it make a difference for Aldon, Culliver, Bruce Miller?

Aldon even had a guy in Haley who had been through some crazy stuff of his own making trying to help him out.

We are all the captains of our own destiny.

I did not hear about this. What happened?
At least we didn't spent the 3rd overall on this guy.

Why is there always drama with this team or does ever team go through it with these idiots?

I think it's safe to say this is this last chance. Serve the 4 game suspension. Hurt, our team while he is out. But we will survive.

What an idiot

The first two had nothing to do with us and not while he was in SF. We also have no idea on the diluted sample (more than often it's because of too much water) he never tested postive for weed....huge difference.

The confrontation could've been because of a million different things.

Getting caught with half a joint isn't even close to what aldon smith and josh gordon have done....we shouldn't be throwing every person into one category.

Throwing out ideas of othe in-house incidents? Dude, let's stop making things up. That's a bit much

Nothing that involves Foster so there's zero reason to even bring it up in here....reaching on that imo
