In all seriousness, this is why we need a good veteran presence on both sides of the ball. They young budding stars need direction and guys to help and hold them accountable. We need a Willis/Cowboy type. I wonder if it would of made a difference if Bow was still on the team.

He just has to get some friends here in California to show him the way. I'm sure he went back home to see some of his old friends that probably don't have his best interest in mind but are just trying to latch on to him. I hope that someone can reach out to him and let him know that he has to be very selective about who he stays in contact with from his past because in all honesty he has little in common with those people anymore, his is going to be a wealthy man and nfl star which puts him on a level the us commoners can't relate to. Hopefully someone like Norton sees some potential in him or maybe even better would be Foster finds a mentor in the league or on the team that he can latch onto and help guide him through his transition to stardom.

I believe in you 56. You made a mistake. Learn from it and move on.

This is not an anti weed post and I dabble too but this is an issue about self control with Foster and that's a big one. It's against NFL Rules to be smoking weed in a career that typically only lasts 3-4 years. This is his time to make generational wealth and he's blowing it to get high. His lack of clear judgement just days after the regular season is over is concerning and should be held against him. Not saying he should get cut but there should be serious consequences placed on him by the team if he crosses the line again and he should be forced to go into some kind of recovery/isolation to keep him out of any more trouble.

He pays the fine. Lynch and Kyle have a good talk with Burdon Foster. Possible team disciplinary. Comes back to OTA Reuben Foster again.

This.

Stop with the josh Gordon s**t, dude was drinking before every single football game.

Hope he takes this seriously and doesn't try to push the "4 positive tests" line. Will he be penalized for his arrest / conviction? I highly doubt he serves jail time for this but you never know. Like most of us, we don't know him on a personal level but he appears to be a good kid. We all can only hope that he learns from this.

This was not a positive test. It was an arrest. And with the NFL's uneven handling of discipline, you just never know.

I actually support this message, very well explained. Nice people will be taken advantage of. But don't forget where you came from, stay humble.

Truth

Agreed.. Both of you.

If he is trouble again then he should pay fines then it is good fair deal with that.

We should not worry about Foster. We should chill out with him. We should let Foster make mistakes for trouble and learn it from happen and next time. Just move on and won't trouble again next time. Let to go.

Agreed, if you gotta smoke at least put yourself in a position where you won't get caught. The NFL literally gives you a grace period to smoke as much weed as you want and let's you know when you will be tested (until you get caught then you get tested all the time).

I agree as well. Self discipline is critical.

This..."it's just weed" always cracks me up.

This is a stain on his career and our image during a time we've worked so hard to build up right before FA.

These players have massive counsel as to what is and isn't legal and have many resources to get out of bad situations.

The fact that he stained his top 5 draft status to the end of the first round, now stained his rebuilt image of a premier player and our organization is of great concern!

Was alcohol and pot no big deal for Aldon? When a person is still doing that crap despite knowing the risks and even after 2nd chances is when there should be great concern.

This kid is going to need a lot of counseling and a major change of lifestyle and Norton Jr. will have his work cut out for him.

Aldon Smith talent. Aldon Smith brain? Hopefully not...

That's the issue, it might be something that's reduced so far that it's literally nothing though.

At most it will be a 2 game suspension then reduced to 1 game on a appeal. Sounds like his contract wouldn't be fully guaranteed now though.
Some of y'all are trippin. Pot should not be illegal and definitely should not be against the NFLs substance abuse policy. I would bet that the majority of the league dabbles with pot. It is a much safer option than pills when it comes to pain relief. Let's not compare this young man to Aldon. Who had a legitimate problem. If he continues to mess up that's one thing. If he learns his lesson that the NFL and the U.S. are dumb as f**k but you have to play by their rules than he's fine.

Yup, now he's gonna be drug tested non-stop and doesn't get that grace period....his stupidity and who he hangs out with ruined that.

It's ridiculous to me that you can pop as many addictive pain pills as you want and drink, but god forbid you smoke a little smh.
Stinger? What stinger.

Every player gets a get out of jail free card with me on their first chance (unless it's some crazy felony).

It's up to him to choose which road he wants to go down, I have a feeling lynch and shanny aren't gonna put up with that s**t long-term

I will add aldon has much more than a pot issue, so I'm not throwing his name in the same sentence as Foster that's a bit much imo
