Jabrill Peppers

"He plays so many positions," Lynn said. "I believe if you put him at one position, I think he can be a superstar -- it's that simple. He's been a superstar his whole life. I don't think it's going to stop because he's in the National Football League. He's got a lot of juice."

PHOENIX -- Most mock drafts have the Los Angeles Chargers selecting Ohio State product Malik Hooker with the team's No. 7 overall pick in this year's draft.

But head Anthony Lynn gushed over another safety draft that analysts have had a hard time figuring out where he will go in the draft -- Michigan safety Jabrill Peppers.

"There's some good safeties coming out," Lynn said when asked about the safeties in this year's draft class. "I like Jamal Adams. I think Peppers can be a nice safety in the National Football League. Obi [Melifonwu], the young man from Connecticut, has a nice presence down in the box as a strong safety."

Kam Chancellor, Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman served in those roles with Bradley's defense for the Seattle Seahawks, and Peppers has the potential to develop into that type of leader at the next level, according to NFL scouts whom I've talked to.

Scouts compared Peppers' skill set to Arizona Cardinals hybrid safety/linebacker Deone Bucannon.

"Chargers' Anthony Lynn says Jabrill Peppers can be a superstar"

Kollman concludes that Peppers is: Fast, fluid, great against slot receivers, solid against outside runs, can play safety, could potentially play some linebacker, can return kicks, punts, and might even be able to play some running back. How does that not scream, at the top of its lungs, "Pete Carroll guy!"?

"This week, Kollman surprised himself when he started to dig in on the tape of Michigan All-American safety/linebacker Jabrill Peppers. Peppers, who finished fifth in the Heisman voting this year, is perhaps the most divisive prospect of the draft. Considered the ultimate "tweener" because a lot of people just aren't sure what he is, Peppers confounded Kollman because he was not impressed with him initially during the season but had to reconsider everything after watching his combine performance. In this breakdown, Kollman talks about how Peppers could be the ultimate nickel cornerback because of his coverage skills."

Peppers may weight a little more and slightly faster, but both very instinctive on defense.

So you're saying that he's a bigger faster Troy P?

"Peppers stands at 6-1, 205 pounds respectively, being a little taller then Polamalu when he came out of USC, as well as being as if not more athletic then the former Steelers star."

"Skeptical? Well, one NFC personnel executive may change your mind. The executive told NJ.com's Mark Eckel on Friday that Peppers is a top-5 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and that the 6-foot-1, 205-pound junior reminds him of former Pittsburgh Steelers safety and eight-time pro bowler Troy Polamalu.

"He's unbelievable," the executive said of Peppers. "He's the most versatile player I've ever scouted. He does it all for (Michigan). I think at our level, he's a safety, he reminds me of Troy Polamalu. I don't think I'd use him on offense. He could be a good return man for you, though. What he is, is just a phenomenal athlete. But he's more than that, because he's tough and he's smart, too."

"Peppers also drew comparisons to former NFL star Charles Woodson from a different scout. And a third scout said Peppers is already better than Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Jalen Ramsey, who was taken fifth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft."

"He's better than Jalen Ramsey, so there's that. He's a safety, but you can match him up if you want. He can take on the better tight ends, (the Redskins') Jordan Reed man to man. You can put him in the slot. You can blitz him, play him deep. He's going to be a difference maker for a defense."

He is bigger and Peppers was gaining weight for the Lb position. He was a 2 time state champion in the 200 meters. With out the the extra 12 pounds, he ran a 4.33 in last year..

He has what he calls rollover speed, he can make up. Like Kollman said in his video, who wouldnt have trouble with 4.31 speed that Curtis Samuel has, he had a viper lb roll in Michigan and did what he was asked to do.. You Disrupt not intercept in those situations.. He didnt have the opportunity and it wasnt his job or roll to.

So he is bigger and can run as fast as Troy with the 12 pound taken off. So the comparison Titan is making is valid, the fact scouts are comparing him to Troy and the numbers are close makes it a valid comparison.. Peppers with the added 12 pounds ran a 4.46 in his combine. Peppers height is 5"11.

"There's a defensive coordinator I talked to right before the combine and we had this conversation, and he looked at me and he said, 'He's not Troy Polamalu, but I will play him like Tory Polamalu.' And that's what he means by that, he's gonna play him all over the place," Davis said Wednesday on ESPN Dallas 103.3's J Dub City.
But back to that bit about how Peppers represents the future...
"I like him a lot. I like him for this reason: I think that he's what I call today's 'down and distance' player," Davis said. "What I mean that is there are certain players nowadays that we're going to start moving around to different spots based on down and distance. Peppers can do so many different things that I'm not sure that you just plug him into one spot and just leave him there and call it a day because I don't think you maximize what he can do. I think that you look at down and distance and say OK, in this situation I'd play him here. And in another defense I'd play him there, and move him around. ... If I'm someone who drafts Jabrill Peppers, I don't just say he plays this position. I say he's a defensive back and I'm going to utilize him a bunch of different ways."

http://sportsday.dallasnews.com/dallas-cowboys/cowboys/2017/03/24/cowboys-getting-troy-polamalu-type-db-draft-jabrill-peppers

The comparisons are accurate..
"Pittsburgh's No.1 pick in 2003, Polamalu went onto be selected to eight Pro Bowls while helping the Steelers win two Super Bowl titles while being named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2010. While comparing anyone to Polamalu is an incredibly high standard to live up to, Peppers showed similar versatility and playmaking ability during his time at Michigan that could make him a very disruptive player at the next level for years to come"

Another mock draft has the Steelers selecting Michigan defensive back Jabrill Peppers with the 30th pick in the NFL Draft.

In his recent mock draft, NFL.com's Charley Casserly has Pittsburgh taking Peppers in the draft, as the Steelers look to continue to add young pieces to it's improving defense.

"Is Peppers another Troy Polamalu?" Casserly wrote, alluding to Pittsburgh's future Hall of Fame safety that wreaked havoc on opposing offenses during his 12 year career with the Steelers.

No one is as versatile as Peppers but Troy.. Some scouts say he is the most versatile ever scouted as you can read... True Story.. watch that Kollman video, they are all re-evaluating Peppers.. The doubters are starting to realize and see for themselves, his unselfishness. He hurt his draft stock for the team.

He is a different breed that only comes so often + tough and smart?? He has all the tools to be the Superstar he already is, it wont change in the nfl.

He has the elite speed if you need him to lose the weight but why would you? He bulked up 12 pounds and still ran a 4.46 at the combine..

Speed is no problem, he has it all.

"From his Outside Linebacker position, he totaled 9 tackles with 3 and 1/2 of those tackles were for loss. He also had one Quarterback sack and he got another hurry on the Quarterback which led to an incomplete pass.

Peppers had 4 punt returns which totaled 99 yards and a Touchdown. If you are searching for your calculator that is 24.75 yards per return bringing his season average to an impressive average of 21.63 yards per return.

He returned two kickoffs for 81 yards and I am no math wizard, but that's another 40.5 yards per

return which clearly set his team up in great field position.

On offense, Peppers ran the ball twice for 24 yards.

Peppers was the Walter Camp player of the week for his brilliant efforts. This blog has been promoting Jabrill Peppers for 2 years and it's great for him to become recognized by the national media because Peppers is a special player.

In any other year, Jabrill Peppers could be a serious Heisman contender."

No one is as versatile as Peppers. Who does that in one game? Again while Hooker and Adams are taking a breather, this animal is making an impact on the other side of the ball...

He's going to shine wherever he goes, more like I hope most dont drool later when he becomes one of the best in this draft. It wont surprise me and Ill be a fan of his wherever he goes. Researching doesn't bother me at all

"Peppers says he doesn't care what anyone thinks, except -- of course -- the people who will be doing the actual selecting during the draft later this month. ESPN's top two analysts agree with Harbaugh now as both Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay slotted Peppers toward the tail end of the first round in their respective updated mock drafts Wednesday.

"He's a wild card, he hasn't defined that safety position yet but he's going to be a great return man right away," Kiper said of Peppers. "Once he learns and settles in (he could be great), he's a super explosive athlete. I believe he's a first-round pick. Maybe the latter half of round one or the end of round one."

Great 2nd round value too risky for 1st round IMO
https://www.landof10.com/michigan/jabrill-peppers-nfl-draft-film-analysis-video

"Peppers has helped his draft stock with a solid combine, and is turning some doubters of his into believers. That includes SB Nation's Brett Kollmann, who recently broke down a lot of Peppers' film from last season.

In great detail, Kollmanm pointed out Peppers' role in the Michigan defense, the multitude of things he does well and how they'll translate to the NFL and where Peppers can fit on a professional defense.

"(He) is a top 32 pick all day long, and whoever gets him should be ecstatic," Kollmann said. "…To boil it down to one sentence: 'Dude is a stud, just a flat out, no-bones-about-it stud.' "

Here is his 15-minute analysis, which is well worth the watch for Michigan and NFL fans who want to understand Peppers' NFL future."

I think 2nd round is wishful thinking as everyone starting to realize what he truly is. The naysayers are starting to realize his worth.

Best overall prospect after Myles Garrett?

Michigan DB can do it all ... and then some
This answer is Jabrill Peppers. He can do so many things on defense and is a weapon in the return game. The Michigan product will add so much value on a team. He has the mindset of a dominant player and reminds me of Troy Polamalu the way he can come into the box. Peppers ultimately can play wherever you need him, and I think he's going to transition well into the NFL.

Watch him be one of the best players in this draft and remember how he got no love prior to draft day here..
When he shows he is the best safety in this draft, just say Wu you was right all along.

You cant measure heart and he has the biggest one in this draft..

"The Steelers 'love' Jabrill Peppers, who promises to 'eat' in the NFL"

"According to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala, Pittsburgh GM Kevin Colbert "loves" Peppers and plans on addressing the secondary in the first round."

"I played out of position(LB @ 200lbs) pounds, and still became an All American. How many players can/ARE WILLING to do that for their team?"

"Call me what you want, but I will EAT regardless no matter the situation or circumstance. That's just how I'm CUT! That's on BIG BRO💯"
