"A minute and 48 seconds in, No. 5 in blue is covering No. 5 in white: Colorado tight end George Frazier, who starts out wide to the left but motions into the slot. Peppers tracks him, sliding left, with his football brain calculating the possibilities from 7 yards beyond the line of scrimmage."

"Tremendous football IQ," Brown said of Peppers. "So savvy. He can learn concepts. He'll be in the meeting room, and he'll put his hand up: 'Hey, coach, I've got two questions.' And bang-bang, it translates to the field."

If we needed a nickel, I'd be VERY tempted to take Peppers in the second and have him take over FS in year two after a year of seasoning.

Blame it on not taking Tyranne Matheiu when I wanted him and drafting losers on our secondary....

Don't say things like that! He went in the third!.. if he's there at #66 I'm taking him. Pass rusher&Offense with first two picks.

I was very disappointed to say the least...

Look at us now.... Our secondary is a joke..

Moral of the story is.... How's all those wasted draft picks doing?? We had plenty of draft picks and pissed them away... Should have moved up..

Quality > Quantity...... Thanks Baalke...

I think Peppers projects favorably to someone like Deone Bucannon and can be used very similarly.

Bucannon doesn't have the feet of Peppers IMO..

Here's a fun scenario.

Fournette
Harris/Tmakk/Lawson/Rivers
Trade up with our third to later second and take Peppers.
Man, I'm just thinking that there's a lot of players in this draft that NE can score a good pick on.

I said favorably not exactly.

Bucannon offers safety and hybrid linebacker versatility. Peppers offers the same thing with slightly better athletical traits. Peppers could really thrive in that same kind of role but he needs a creative defensive mind to take advantage of his gifts.

I could live with Peppers in a trade up. I just want whoever takes him to have a viable plan in place for how they wanna use him. Not another Jimmy Ward situation where the poor guy gets jerked around to something new every offseason.

This year if he doesn't beat out Jimmy I'm playing him in the slot. Next year I see if I permanently play at FS or SS. I'm not doing the LB role deal, plus Tartt/Reid would be better for that role as a Dime backer in our division.

With his size, I don't think I envision him as my in the box SS... Ward staying at CB and Peppers going straight to FS is a possibility.

Bucannon and Peppers are very close to the same size. Peppers has good closing speed, a great tackler and can cover. I think he'd make a great box safety. The dude is a talented player and has that ability to do alot of things from the box, including blitzing. He could really be a nightmare for opposing offensive coordinators because of all the things he can do from that area of the field. No he doesn't have the intimidating size of a Kam Chancellor but with his burst and closing speed, he can still pop a pretty good punch over the middle too.

Im with you Wu, why add core talent, we should be looking for stars, this gut playing safety down in the box....not a bad idea. Looks like he can cover, backs, and ends just fine. But don't trust me, Id also like to get McCafey in here as well!
