'That's what 4.3, 4.4 [speed] looks like.' Michigan's Harbaugh praises Peppers
In an interview with NFL Network's Mike Mayock at the Michigan Pro Day on Friday, coach Jim Harbaugh had high praise for potential first-round pick Jabrill Peppers:
"It's every day [that Peppers brings electricity]. The very first thing that I noticed when I started coaching him was the energy that he brought to the practices, but to the drills, to the meetings to the workouts. I think that's what a lot of people are going to see when they see him for the first time: the enthusiasm he goes into a drill with, is engaged the entire drill, and pushes himself, pushes others around him. That's gold, that's gold. People are gonna see that in person."
"He can definitely cover. He can cover like a nickel. He played corner. He can play the deep part. He can play up near the line of scrimmage. He can tackle. There can't be a better tackler in college football. And the other thing is, he is one of fastest people in a football uniform that I've ever seen. He's so fast when he's got the football uniform on... that's what a 4.3, 4/4 looks like. Some guys that run the 4.3 in shorts, then put uni on and that's what a 4.7 feels like. He is fast. He can get into the line of scrimmage. He can blitz. He can play linebacker, but he can also play safety and play nickel. Teams so teams are going to have a lot that they're going to find they can do with him." -- Harbaugh

"Dismiss 'positionless' argument, don't underrate Jabrill Peppers"

"They talk about his lack of interceptions, yet they fail to recognize that Peppers simply followed the instructions of defensive coordinator Don Brown, who wasn't looking for interceptions from his VIPER.

They talk about his absence from the Orange Bowl, yet fail to do their homework before broadcasting negative assumptions — he was injured (hamstring), he didn't fake anything (I saw him warm-up and stretch on the field), and he truly wanted to play against Florida State this past Dec. 30 in Miami.

For some reason, they doubt his abilities at the next level.

"We're going to see," Peppers said, smiling, while addressing naysayers.

Here's something they don't know about the former 5-star recruit: The real force behind his 5-foot-11, 213-pound frame (combine measurements, per NFL.com) has nothing to do with his hands, feet, legs, knees, shoulders or arms.

It has everything to do with his head.

For some reason, his intelligence has been discounted.

Peppers reminded them, though."

"They didn't how smart I was, my football savvy," he said of the feedback received during pro day interviews Friday at Oosterbaan Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor. "And that I can speak 'football.' I like to say that I could be a GA (graduate assistant) coach. I know what I'm supposed to do, it's just about going out there and doing it every time."

"I think that's where the great professionals separate themselves — because they put the work in and go out there and do it every single time," Peppers said. "I think that's main thing that I took away from (the meetings) — they just really didn't realize how smart I was and how much football I know. How I can talk 'football' and speak their terminology."

Ironically, Ive been saying the same thing here

The kid is bright, could be a GA coach. He studies the game like the elite..

"Cardinals hold meeting with Michigan standout Jabrill Peppers"

The Arizona Cardinals are expected to add defensive back help in this year's NFL draft. They also could look at inside linebacker. They did a little pre-draft work at one position or the other, as they met with versatile defensive star Jabrill Peppers out of Michigan.

Looks like the rich get richer in the backfield.. WoW if he goes with Matheiu and Peterson to the Cardinals.

I would not want to be a Qb in this division if it does happen.. lol

If you notice a patern... Very bright.. Intelligence is being underated and we couldnt tackle to save our lives last year, its a damn shame..

Part 2 of Peppers

"From the people I've talked to what they have said to me, they really get it and they're continuing to do their homework on what kind of guy he is, what kind of player he is, what kind of practice players he is. I can tell you the same thing I tell them, I haven't been around another player who brings as much energy to a practice or a game as Jabrill Peppers. The No. 1 guy I've ever been around in terms of bringing enthusiasm in practice, not only himself but lifting as many people as you can think of around him on a daily basis, weekly basis, monthly basis, yearly basis. I've never seen anything like the guy in terms of the way he likes to practice, the way he wants to win at practice, the way he likes to compete, the satisfaction he derives from practice. I think they're really liking to hear that. What they're telling me, he's going to go very high."

Mike Mayock: Jabrill Peppers is the best safety in the 2017 NFL draft

If it some how helps the 49ers draft stars and not Baalke's usual flops, Sure I'll help.

Just saying...

He is everything we need. I know my team very well. I want the best as every niner should want on their team. Jabrill Peppers provides that, he is only going to flourish concentrating on Db workouts.

S Jabrill Peppers. The rap on Peppers is that he didn't have very many plays on the ball at Michigan -- one interception, no forced fumbles and no fumble recoveries in two and a half seasons there. In 2016, he played as an inside linebacker, and in that way he might be a fit for the 49ers' strong safety role, which often plays close to the line of scrimmage. Peppers, however, doesn't have the size (5-11, 213) and big-hitter reputation as the most prominent safety to play that role in the NFL, Seattle's Kam Chancellor, and there may be better players at the position, including LSU's Jamal Adams and UConn's Obi Melinfonwu, coming out in the draft. Peppers has added value because he was an excellent punt returner, something the 49ers don't have right now.

He could save Tartt's job.. Jabrill can cover the bigger tight ends, Punt return and offense. Leave Tartt to hug the line.

You want a short, short-armed safety with questionable ball skills whose best attribute is physicality and tackling to play single high safety in our new defense so Tartt can play strong safety?

That article refers to him as a strong safety and his best fit by far is at strong safety. We aren't picking a strong safety at #2. It's just not a valuable enough position and Peppers isn't a good enough player. I can't see us trading up from 34 for him either since SS isn't a big need unless we're giving up on both Tartt and Reid.

Its obvious your still not understanding the player. I dont care if the guy is green and an alien. He is a baller.. According to Mayock he is the best Safety and I've been talking about his leadership skills, outworks anyone and how bright he is since last year. Theres no eureka here, just a player being overlooked, that will shock only a small group when he balls out. Not me nor Mayock He also has no major injuries..

When he has a better career, I want everyone to remember this thread. Adams nor Hooker has Jabrill's diversity nor is learning skills, you tell him once the problem is fixed.

You cant teach that, your underestimating. He switched positions for a year and still was a Heisman candidate.
He is bright with all the physical attributes..

Mayock is a smart guy, thats why he switched Jabrill to the #1 Safety... People are starting to notice what he does for his team around him, he makes everyone better..

He is going high and Tartt nor Reid is as explosive nor as good of a prospect. No comparisons what this kid brings to the table and thats energy all day long..

Its going to be fun, you only have to tell him once and its corrected, you must understand the animal. Most are not getting it but trust you me. You will see why.

He has 10 pass breakups as a db in his sophmore year. He played lb for the team... because he was asked..
He can do it all, your not getting the type of player he is.

The people who have done their research diligently see it and or are starting to see, only the people that haven't are saying otherwise..
