Is the NFL dying?

Getting tired of watching the same f**king teams make it to the playoffs over and over while we sit at the bottom of the league.

Because some people think that a thread titled "Is the NFL dying?" belongs in the NFL Talk section, not the parking lot. I happen to agree.

How about nobody knows what a catch is.

We simplified the push out rule. Now we no longer ask the officials to decide If he "would" have come down in bounds. That's like watching two tennis players on different courts and deciding which one would win against each other. He either did, or didn't come down in bounds. If the defender pushes him out before he comes down, good on him, that's defense.

Let's do the same thing with catches. Instead of "did he make a football move", oh wait, now it's "hold the ball long enough" (how long is that?), and "did he keep it going to the ground". No. How 'bout, did he have possession with two feet down in bounds. Period.

Do that, and a review can be definitive, too.

This crap is where they're losing me.

Lots of reasons, however, the better matchups have drawn well. Lot of crappy matchups this season.

Last nights Chi v GB game was hard to watch. They are going way too far with the commercial breaks.

Yep. I've always believed that as soon as the player crosses the OOB line, or goalline, the play is over. Did the receiver have possession when he crossed the plane? That's all that matters to me.

Honestly, the NFL has done many things wrong.

- They're hyper political (it's partly why I have slowed my roll watching although I still see Niners games for free where they don't profit)
- They're run by an idiotic tyrant
- The owners are all pieces of s**t
- A huge % of players are too
- The ones that aren't terrible humans are getting their brains turned to mush before our eyes.
- Rule changes haven't really helped things either.

I could go on.

What do some players quietly kneeling or raising a fist have to do with anything in regards to watching? Are people fed up with police brutality that big of a problem . They have no impact on the actual game itself.

The reason the NFL is down is 99% because of the election. The debate coverage, etc has taken over combine that with No more Kick Returns, all the stupid penalties, too many games etc and you have a watered down trash product. Also too many commercials. I absolutely HATE all the commercials. The Greed of Goodell to have Thursday night football. It's too much. It's over saturated. Go back to Sunday and Monday Only.

Boxing and horse racing peaked and are almost out of the picture. During the early to mid 50's boxing was on TV almost every evening (sound familiar?). Horse racing drew larger crowds than baseball and football. In 1938 when Seabiscuit ran against War Admiral in the famous match race the country came to a halt. President Roosevelt stopped whatever he was doing to listen to the race. The owners will squeeze the last penny out of pro-football.

The gaming industry crash probably has some parallels. There are some that are similar today in that field as well. Basically they are too big for their britches and have people running the show that have no idea what got them there in the first place.

The number of commercials really is insane.

I actually doubt if the Kaepernick protest had that much to do with it. I stopped paying for the NFL because of their constant blind support of various causes I do not support (like wars etc.).
