After watching Watson eat that Seattle D up, I'm fully on board with taking Jackson #2 if Rosen goes #1 and Cousin's isn't available.

We CAN NOT PASS on another potential franchise QB because they might not be the prototypical QB for a KS offense. Passing on Watson will haunt us for years(I have a feeling Mahomes too), but if Jackson turns out to be the next superstar and we once again pass on another dynamic QB prospect, I'll really have to start questioning the competence of Shanalynch going forward.

Kid is just a sophomore...I have my doubts about him declaring. That said his legs would certainly cover up our Oline deficiencies if we were to draft him.

He's a junior. This is his 3rd year as a starter.
I believe that after the combine Jackson will be the consensus top overall player in the draft. His skillset will have teams watering at the mouth when they see him up close. I just hope he impresses the hell out of Shanny when he grills him to test out his intellect.

We just need the damn Browns to beat someone, or pull a Browns type move and either take Rosen/Darnold or pass on yet another QB for someone like Barkley.

My bad thought it was his second year...he's showing dramatic improvement from year to year....I still feel he stays for another season just 20 years old right now.

Im liking him more and more. Is he a Shannahan QB tho?

Kyle needs to realize that if he wants talent, he's likely going to have to be draft someone who isn't coming out of a pro-style offense. Otherwise, he's shrinking the pool of options to nearly nothing by being stubborn.

If darnold stays in school, Jackson would be the "browns type" move. Not to say that Jackson won't or can't be better than Rossen or anyone else for that matter, but browns would totally go after the glitz and glam of Jackson over the pocket passer in Rossen

I agree. I think intelligence is most important. I also think Shanny is smart enough to alter his system a bit to fit a qb.

I like Jackson. He's getting better but he doesnt have the games against great competition Id prefer to see. Ill havr yo wait until the offseason to watch most of these guys.
Nothing to do with race. I would have loved it if we drafted Watson. Has anyone heard this guy in an interviw? He sounds retarded.

That has more to do with where he was raised than intellect. A lot of guys from places like Florida, Louisiana, and Alabama sound the same way, but are very football smart, like Frank Gore.

It was reported that Shanahan liked Garoppolo a lot, a guy who most certainly wasn't coming out of a pro style offense. . I do think that Jackson has some similar qualities in comparison with Garoppolo in terms of a quick release and compact throwing motion, mobility, ability to make plays outside the pocket and attack all areas of the field.

That said, Jackson does run quite a few pro style concepts in his offense, this article actually does a great breakdown of that. It certainly isn't a bare bones spread offense like what a Paxton Lynch ran at Memphis.

Louisville is diverse and unique in personnel usage. They may line up one rep in 13 Personnel, sub in 2 backs and play out of the Diamond formation, then bring a couple of TE's back in and play out of empty.
The offense is pro style, and mirrors some of the spread elements Jim Harbaugh used to unleash the legs of Colin Kaepernick in the run game. Petrino wants to hit a defense with inside zone and stretch zone from as many formations and with as many "tags", reads and adjustments as he can to set up the perimeter game for his QB.
In the pass game, you'll see exactly how Petrino is readying Jackson for the next level.
Petrino rarely calls for "quick" game passing routes, in stark contrast to the "rhythm" offense we watched Clemson employ with Deshaun Watson last season.

It cannot be stressed enough that Bobby Petrino is willing to run just about anything from just about any personnel grouping. Personnel groupings are not indicators of run/pass tendencies, and that makes their play-action game deadly.
From 12 Personnel, they use a split-zone play fake to hold the defense still just long enough for the "Yankee" pass concept to get behind the defense.

Louisville will use that same split zone action up front to hit the middle crosser in their "flood" concepts.

And on and on, the link has a bunch of examples of different route concepts within the offense.

As mean as that is, I when I read this. I still would take him though

Exactly this. Gore is a great example too. His only problem in a Shanny offense might be relaying the play calls in a huddle whether it be him fumbling the words or his teammates having a hard time understanding him
