That is definitely not what we want.

I don't see a scenario where we would cut AA, unless we draft another DL.

This is what I'm looking at:
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/arik-armstead-16741/

His cap hit for this season is $12 - that's fine. Then his cap hit bumps up to $20 in 2022. Outside of 2019, his play does not warrant being a $20 cap hit player imo. He needs to regain his 2019 form to justify that contract.

Yeah, but we want Julio.

So he will be on the team for the 2021 and 2022 season?

Not worth it.

Even $12m is too damn much for this guy. His role as base run defender at edge is easily replaced.

I hope the 49ers give Ebukam base snaps. That dude is surprisingly strong as hell, and we won't have to worry about sliding him inside in nickel.
Can we get out of his contract next year? What would be the first year we can dump him and not lose a lot of money? I really don't want them to restructure his contract because I don't really want him back or stuck here for longer after a re-structure. Cut bait on this dude ASAP please.

Yeah, I don't know what we were thinking when paying a dude who doesn't get sacks that much.

This is what happens when a team pays a fortune for a player on a contract year. AA hasn't produced up until his 5th year.

On the previous page, someone mentioned that this team could possibly get out of the contract after the 2022 season...if he doesn't restructure.

He had a good 2019, when he had a team of all stars: Ford (healthy) Bosa and Buckner. He was the ultimate clean up guy.
Its too bad if they can't get out of his contract until after 2022. Especially if he is scheduled to make 20 mil that year. They're going to be hard pressed for cap space the next couple of years. Could really use that 20 mil in other places and he's definitely not worth it. There's no way he'll take a pay cut and if they re-structure it just keeps him here longer. What a s**tty move by the front office. I think the FO is pretty legit most of the time but the amount they have this guy is a head scratcher.
I'd like to see the Niners get back to drafting some D line again next year. Outside of Bosa who's coming off a major injury the group leaves a lot to be desired. They're not close to what they were in the SB run in 2019. Time to re-stock the shelf.

Exactly. Restructure would be terrible. My hope is that he plays at or above 2019 levels this year and next, then we find a trade partner. Draft a guy in 2022 that can legit play inside and outside.

That's expecting a lot considering his track record.

I said hope. Not expect lol.
Even his sack dance is annoying.
