Damn you guys still hating on AA, Justin Smith didn't have huge sack numbers either.

Justin Smith and AA should never ever be used in a comparison....
they shouldn't, but Stats is not the end all either

Exactly, no AA isn't Justin Smith's caliber, but they're similar, not many sacks, but got good pressure, in the backfield, team leader. Now I'm not saying AA is worth $17M a yr, but I'd still keep him with the cap set to explode by 2024.
I love AA.. Always quick and in the backfield. 2019 was the only time he had help to force the QB to stay and not run away

Same here, I love Armstead, never got the hate he gets, sacks aren't everything. He was good in 2020, he had all the pressure with Bosa and Ford out, Hyder was the surprise.

It's not hate. I never ever like guys who only hustle and played their best during a contract year. Just look at all of his stats when you take out the contract year.

The difference is you could see Justin Smith dominating his man on a consistent basis. Taking on double teams, freeing others up to make plays. And often STILL got pressure himself. AA you see whiffing a lot, or playing with a very clean jersey. You don't have to look at stats, to see the differences in those two.

And making a tackle fumble 15 yards downfield.

You'd think they would take advantage of that 6th yr in a restructure at some point...

If they want to get Julio, now is the perfect timing, saves $4.528M.

Well let's make it happen

Tell me more about this 6th year restructure AB.

This. Justin didnt need to put up stats to see his impact on the football field. And AA doesn't have no where near the motor Justin had.

Outside of his contract year, hes been pretty average.

Id settle for average.
If anyone in this group is from the Sacramento area, the Sacramento River Cats are giving away an Arik Armstead bobble head on the 30th! Check the link below!

Smith was all in 100% every play and a very intelligent player.

AA is a loafer. If he had Smith's motor and football IQ, he'd be special. But not everyone has it.
