To me, this isn't at all the same as a suspension for legal issues off the field. Those are pretty clear cut incidents with only the severity of suspensions being questionable at times. For Deflategate they had zero actual evidence that Brady ordered the code red, and yet they tried to hang the guy for that. I'm sorry, but you need to actual prove that someone cheated before suspending them, IMO. They did it backwards, and now Goodell and the league looks completely foolish.
While that sounds fine he has been suspending our guys before any court ruling. Brooks hasn't been found guilty, neither has Miller, hell so far Aldon hasn't had a day in court. Unless they are in jail they should be playing now.

Ah well. I'm at the point where this is so out of control that I'm starting to agree that everybody and every team should just ignore the NFL, Commish, and all the rules and let the whole thing implode.
Yes, the 4 game suspension was way over the top considering that the WRITTEN max penalty for the violation was just a minimal fine, but you have to take past behavior into consideration at some point.
No penalty at all is a joke.
Sure took Aldons past behavior in consideration. 9 games for nonviolence outside the game. Smh

So Goddell screwed up a bit by not presenting all the evidence. What happened to the original "issue". The footballs were deflated, the owner accepted the 1 million dollar fine. In the NFL, where every penny is important, those two facts are sufficient.
A four game suspension similar to drugs violation? That's a joke.

If the balls were indeed deflated, I don't believe that merited the subsequent suspension or the fiasco this whole thing has become. It probably is not over as the NFL will undoubtedly appeal the decision. I don't believe the Patriots or Tom Brady cheated. Basically this was a chance for the Patriots detractors to seize upon a low hanging fruit. Those folks need to get over themselves. I wish the 49ers had won those Super Bowls, but they didn't and the Patriots did (and did so fairly), so I can't hate on them for that fact. Maybe, maybe, a fine was merited for Brady, but I'm not so sure about that either. The only thing detrimental to the leagues integrity is the league's actions in this entire "deflate-gate" ordeal, which should never have blown up this much. Roger Goodell is an embarrassment, I'm not saying he should be fired, but I am saying he and the league need to check themselves. You can't act like you are perfect, like they do, and demonize individual players, when clearly the league is a deeply flawed institution. In fairness to them, some of the players are jerk-offs, but not all of them are. I'm glad for the decision handed down by the courts, the league has egg on their face now, hopefully they learn some humility from this fiasco.

You cant just start inventing punishments, that is what the issue was here. Goodell gambled and lost big time

Our guys have clearly done what they were suspended for. I may not agree with the extent of punshment for Aldon last year, but it wasn't in question whether he had crashed that car while drunk. They only infer that Brady ordered the deflation. Key difference, IMO. And if you read the analysis of the judge's ruling the other failures in their process come to light as well.

Aldon Smith. 5 games misdemeanor gun possession. 4 games DUI. Nine games. Zero precedent for nonviolent offenses

Good job opening up a Pandora's box with deflategate dumbass Goodell. I just heard Tim Hasselbeck on sports talk radio sum up this outcome quite well "this was a botched police investigation." The NFL version of Keystone cops.

it hasnt been proven that brooks assaulted that woman and it definitely seems like the whole bruce miller thing was blown way out of proportion. So what...he broke his GF's cell phone. Pushing your GF shouldnt be worth a suspension unless its down a flight of stairs or into shark infested waters. But seriously look how big he is and how little she is. he probably barely pushed her and she went flying. Not saying it wasnt bad but definitely not worth a suspension.
Also Hardy...nothing was proven yet he got suspended (even though we all knew he was probably guilty haha)
What about Frank Clark...i havent heard anything on him getting any suspension for beating the sh*t out of his ex girlfriend. Pretty much the same case as hardy but yet there were witnesses
