I think having a brutal, hard-nosed rookie in Hyde learning behind a brilliant minded, patient back in Gore is pretty much the best situation we could possibly have at the position.

Gores age is mostly irrelevant.. Unlike flashier backs like Steven Jackson (power), Chris Johnson (speed), Gore relies on more nuanced skills to run... Things like vision, pad level, body lean, setting up blockers and overall mental toughness.. Until he starts to break down physically, which is inevitable, he will be an effective back.

Triple headed RB with Hunter?

Carlos Hyde runs hard. and that is awesome at this point
there have been running backs that ran hard. and have been successful so why all the -he needs to do this and he needs to do that- bs. STFU thanks have a nice day
he has two touchdowns btw look at all the vision he lacked there, it caused huge problems![]()
and frank Gore is an extremely good and Durable back. he is still our guy. just waitin to break one for 11-28 yards Lets Go!
Honestly, I don't think vision is his issue. I think he needs to develop patience and learn to get low. Both of these things are learned traits and I have confidence that he'll improve.

...and we'll see if Lattimore has anything to offer.

The guy will learn for sure, right now, he's playing thru instinct, tho it's very positive at the moment, I think that in the long run, and for his own career, he needs to learn that gaining 5 to 7 yards w/o going full speed is ok..
he also needs to learn to just run behind the offensive line as he is gaining positive yardage..
One thing he needs to keep in mind is that in the NFL, all defenders can run and have that lateral speed that can chase you from sideline to sideline.
as far as those "strech plays", I just fully believe that it wont be so bad if we put some of those plays for Hyde because he's got that cut back ability... Plus, if you look at the TOP 4 Quarterbacks (Manning, Brady, Rogers & Brees) they all have those plays that also set up a play action fake when they need to go deep down the middle..
Even Seattle uses that stretch play..
Yes he's way closer to beast mode than gore but we have to call successful plays that the line knows how to block.
they know how to block option give him the ball on them he bursts through the hole. instruct kap to hand it every time on the option. now teams are strictly playing him to keep the ball the lane is always there for hyde. hopefully they look at it on film.
also the quick hitting blocks where the hole opens up immediately is perfect for him. he averaged 4 yards a carry against a stout chiefs defense and could've broken 2 of those for huge 40+ yard gains
keep feeding him
He doesn't have beast mode's agility...Very few really do. Hyde is a good power runner with a strong burst but he needs more work before you can consider him Gore's successor
Completely disagree with this. Completely. He does have his agility he already turns 0 and - yard gains into positive ones based off of his agility alone.
he just needs lane to run in most of the read option plays he has a huge lane but kap keeps the ball. if he'd give it to him probably end up like that touchdown run in dallas where he's at the 2nd level before anyone can even react to him.
Agree with your disagreement.
Watch Lynch EARLY in his career. He wasn't the guy he is now.
Hyde has very, very good quickness for a back his size. Moreover, when you look at him, you really don't realize just how big he is. He looks like hes 5'9" 200 lbs with great body lean. He wouldn't know he's 6', 230 lbs.

Look at lynch today, his best runs and most effective runs are not stretch plays. they are plays where he gets the ball and hits the hole hard and bursts right through.

Needs better vision and run a little lower, running over everybody in the NFL leads to short careers.

I agree. If anyone misses a block with his speed he runs the safety over and takes it to the house. If he slows down he becomes gore and cant break anything over 40 yards. Coaching staff needs to throw him a pitch at full speed to the outside and then you will see some magic.

Lol.. Yeah, not sure where that statement came from. He must of missed Franks rookie year when he took carries from Barlow or his sophomore season when he went for nearly 1700 yards. Frank has ALWAYS had great vision, he just was a little faster and stronger in his prime. Now he makes up for it with experience, IMO.

He is a rookie.
I think he can get better.
Carlos doesn't seem to fumble.
Carlos seems to be durable.
Carlos spells Frank to allow him to last the whole season.
Carlos gets a tick.
Lets hope the vision will come.

I see a lot of power and speed early in franks career. Maybe vision wasn't the right word. His patience and reliance ON BLOCKERS didn't really come about until the last 4 or 5 years. I stand by that. sure he is shifty but he always hit the hole hard . If his "vision" has been so good , the real version of the word. Why has he been stuffed at the line so many times in his career? IM just sayin. I love frank gore!
