Can we just make an official Alex Smith - Hater thread and an Alex Smith - Supporter thread? All hate and support posts must go in there and anyone who deludes other topics with Alex-talk gets a warning? NT has become really watered down...

No chance of that. People won't stay in their own forum, as people still think that the opinions on this subject are vulnerable to being changed by an argument like, "Your stoopid cus I diffurant then U. I well chaynge you're mind wit my awsum argewmant!!. U stoopid, me smart! I qwestyun you manlyness, smartz and sexyouality becuz off Alex ".

Sure does feel like it.

Makes me confident and excited about the future!

I can't even begin to guess what the guy is gonna do. It's fun.
Josh Johnson in no way will be competing for the starter QB position. Take a look at Johnson's style, similar to Smith and CK in that he's a mobile QB who can run if needed. Dont interpret it as not being impressed with CK, thats BS. He is being developed and now is being given legit competition if he wants to keep his #2 spot. Think of how the competition looks right now in practice, CK at 6'4 running a 4.5 while he scrambles to launch a 60 yard strike... then in comes Tolz smaller, slower, and puts allot more touch into his throws which is great when a QB has developed timing and chemistry with his receivers but as a 3rd QB that rarely happens. He could be more of a gamer like Garcia or even Hill to an extent, SD tried to put him on the PS for a reason and that reason had to be justifiable enough to counteract of his shalacking us in the preseason and looking solid overall during his game opportunities.

What this should tell everyone is that Tolz needs to really impress if he doesnt want to be bumped down to the PS, because he is the only QB that would require a change to the game plan based on his style and the minimal amount of capital invested in him. It wouldnt be much of a change but it eliminates long roll outs and QB sweeps etc., the little wrinkles that Harbaugh loves and have become staples.

It's craziness.

NC and I disagreed big time on Manny Lawson and had long drawn out debates on the subject. Never did anything get personal... I only ended up respecting him more for his knowledge. I wish all discussions could be the same.

BTW, NC is teh winnar and I bow before his superior knowledge.

I disagree. I think he's playing that crazy three-level chess from Star Trek, while other GM's are playing pick up the rock. Unfortanately, we as 49er fans always spend two weeks cheering for the rock.

You're right. I sorry.

I'm excited to see how we use JJ! I'm also sure he's going to be nothing but a positive influence in the locker room!

Great signing, IMO.
I don't think JJ is going to beat out Tolzien. In a couple of years, I honestly thought Tolzien would be our #2 QB and CK as the starter once AS leaves. But if JH plays favorites, JJ will be our #3 and Tolzien will be on the PS (if that's possible) or released. Ugh, I hope that doesn't happen. I'm not impressed, if many Smith complainers (I may be one of them) aren't happy with his one year improvement, think how we'll feel about Johnson's terrible stats so far and how much more damage he'll do as a starter on our team.

Exactly. So true!

Okay, but you could say the writing is on the wall for America if Iran perfects cold fusion. Both would be clear, daunting messages, but neither is going to happen.

Stop
Josh Johnson's signing is a great thing because it lets us find out who will be the No.2 QB between him ,CK , and Tolzen( pardon the spelling) . I honestly believe that CK will rise up above Johnson and Tolzen this preseason as our No.2 , Johnson as our No.3 , and Tolzen on the P.S

Ok, I realize I'm probably the Zone's worst speller, but that's just weak....
Increased competition
Another QB who knows the system
Provides solid depth
Allows for more insurance against injury

Over all, a great signing. Like the kid and think he's going to surprise peeps during camps and preseason. Will be fun to see how all these QBs do during preseason when they get their chance. I would expect that all three will get a chance with the 1s at some time just to see how they behave. I know Harbaugh likes to do that.

Again, the increased competition will make this QB unit stronger.
