Clearly there are going to be a lot of teams looking for head coaches this year.
However, with Gruden, Harbaugh, Billick, and Mornhinweg at least there are a lot of solid options too.
People can argue about the pros and cons of each, but I think they all have much better pedigrees than the past couple of Niners coaches.

There is a chance Jeff Fisher gets fired in Tenn. If he does - he will be a great option.

I like Jeff Fisher more than Billick, but I could see him taking a year off from football if he gets fired.

I read yesterday that Texans HC Gary Kubiak will most-likely be fired at the end of this season. The article went on to say that Kubiak could become the top candidate for the Denver Broncos HC job, especially since Kubiak has a history with the team and HOF QB John Elway is now a consultant to the Broncos and Owner Pat Bowlen.

Jerome Solomon of the Houston Chronicle argues in a column Monday that it has come time for the Houston Texans to part ways with Kubiak.
"Apparently the Texans have come a long way, according to all the experts," Solomon writes. "But as Bill Belichick, a top-10 all-time coach, says, the most important statistic is wins. The Texans have gone from the bad old days under Dom Capers, when they were 5-7 after 12 games (in 2003 and 2004), to today, when after 12 games they are, um, 5-7. As they were last year. And the year before that. And the year before that. That is not progress."
It's unclear if Texans owner Bob McNair feels the same way about this as Solomon does, but it's hard to argue against the point that Kubiak has produced mediocre records during his time in Houston. If McNair looks around at the potentially available coaching candidates and likes what he sees, Kubiak could find himself in trouble.
