Head Coach options for the 49ers in 2011: Who do you like and why?

I have a strong gut feeling that we'll be landing Marty Mornhinweg, simply because Marty's going to be the hottest coaching prospect to fall into the mix after the postseason (lots of teams will be vying for him).

Now Marty's ready to take on his own rodeo once again, and this time it will be more successful.

Harbaugh will accept Stanford's extension, Gruden will wing another year of ESPN, Holmgren will stay with Cleveland, and the San Francisco 49ers will have Marty Mornhinweg, book it.

I've been thinking about that myself. Mornhinweg makes sense for the 49ers on many levels.

I'm warming up to Harbaugh... I would usually stay far away from college coaches, but i think he has everything to be successful in the pros. All of his assistants are former NFL coordinators, he has coached and played in the NFL and he has turned around a Stanford program that had not been good in years.

Ughh, we're on thin ice. Lots of teams are gonna be looking for a new HC (with McDaniels now out in Denver).

Jed better be making moves behind closed doors right now.

I'd still take Holmgren over Gruden & Harbaugh

Brother is a Broncos fan and even they want Harbaugh. He's going to be getting some very nice offers. Every team would love to create a winner without a retread.

Need more info on Billick because of what I heard on Sunday. If I recall, the announcers talked about Billick's relationship with Bill Walsh, RIP. I believe they said that Walsh actually request Billick to help him write his book because of his knowledge and experience in the WCO.

If we want the WCO back, wouldn't Billick be a great candidate especially after his tenure as OC in Minny?

I mean if The Great Bill Walsh wanted Billick to help him write "Finding the Winning Edge" and Billick is a WCO genius and we want an offensive minded HC, what's the problem with him?

Seriously. I know the arguments about his lack of offensive production at Baltimore, but was that a product of Fassel or him in 2004 and 2005? After all, he did fire Jim Fassel and assumed the OC role himself. They went to the playoffs the next year at 13-3 and lost to Indy. In 2007, he went 5-11 and was fired. Prior to 2004, his offenses ranked like this:

my first option would be gruden due to his experience and success with quarterbacks and winning. my 2nd choice is harbaugh because he's young and has excellent knowledge of the game. i'm not sure if holmgren would be available, but he'd be another great option too.
