He doesn't sound like a guy who didn't do anything. He sounds like a guy that his happy that he didn't get in more trouble. If you were completely innocent would you accept a 6 game suspension or would you appeal it?
Just a thought.
He definitely didn't do anything wrong. That's been proven. What is against him is the court of public opinion. And once that gets rolling it's a steam roller that can't be stopped.
*sigh*
No, what you're proving is that you are very good at twisting facts to suit your position.
Ben had his bodyguard drag some random chick to a bathroom so Ben could f*ck her. She resisted, he f*cked her anyway, and then she reported it to her employer who COVERED IT UP.
She declined to file criminal charges (as many rape victims do) because she feared retaliation from her employer, and because she was unwilling to bare all for a room full of strangers. She brought a lawsuit much later after she was told that she was to take a paid leave of absence from work while Ben was invited to stay at her place of employ as a VIP.
Think you know what it's like to deal with the aftermath of a rape? You don't have a f*cking clue. Try helping a rape survivor deal with life for a year or 5 after her attack. It'll open your eyes, quell your naivete, and (hopefully) kill your misplaced intellectual apathy.
Until you've seen it from the victim's perspective, you haven't got a god@mned clue what its about. So why don't you do us all a favor and save your cynicism?
Kthx.
On the flip side, you obviously have no clue how a easily a false accusation is believed and how devestating it can be in your life. Take some of your own advice and be an advocate for men who have been eff'd by women's pride and their false accusations, before spouting off at someone how their view on things is wrong. I generally like your stuff LB, but on this hand you are being quite hippocritical. You say someone shouldn't believe in something unless they have been a victim or worked with victims, while at the same time discounting the possibility that your victim is the abuser, just in a different way, but possibly as life devestating an effect.
The facts are that there was no proof either way and in both cases. I don't care who you are. If letting people know you were raped, and fear of losing your job keeps you quiet, then I think your "boo hoo" about victims and recovery is a bit exaggerated. They obviously weren't tramatized enough to make sure that someone who violated them that way was made to pay for having done so. If that's the case, then that person has MUCH bigger personal issues than they do with the rape, if it even ever happened to begin with.
You have decided to be on the side of the alledged victim, what gives you the right to condem those that believe the alledged abuser?
Are you sure about that? Are you sure I haven't seen the other side of the coin?
I have...but that's not the point of this message.
The fact is, with contemporary testing methods, it is easier than ever to cut to the core of a rape accusation. Without physical evidence to back up an accusation, most legal agencies won't pursue a criminal indictment.
FYI...I didn't choose to be on the side of the rape survivor...life decided that for me. And let me tell you...if you had ever dealt with it, your attitude would be a lot different.

There is no victim in either case except for Big Ben at the hands of false accusations.
And your version of the "true events" is completely made up. There are multiple sides to every story. You are only showing one.
Yup. You're right.
I suppose that his other bathroom stall escapades with reluctant women were all made up, too. Poor Ben. Such a victim.
I wonder when he'll manifest stigmata?

FYI...if he is a victim, why isn't he appealing his suspension? He sounds like a guy that is happy he didn't get into even more trouble.

Because the court of public opinion has convicted him so he is rolling with it. It's all he can do at this point. But he obiously did nothing wrong because the police and prosecutors looked at it and found nothing. He may or may not have had sex with that girl in the bathroom. Even that is in dispute. But it doesn't matter since no crime was committed.

Hm.
And this illustrates the difference in our respective points of view.
Your belief is that if there is no criminal proceeding, no crime occurred. My belief is that there are no criminal proceedings in may of these cases for many reasons...and more often than not, it has less to do with lack of evidence than the survivor's reluctance to press charges.
Oh...and the reason there were no criminal proceedings is that the girl never went to the cops. She was going after her employer for forcing her to take a paid leave when Roethlisberger was a guest at her place of employ.

We pointed out before calling it a night that the new Sports Illustrated contains a feature regarding Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Though the magazine is not yet on newsstands, the article by Jack McCallum has been posted on the SI.com web site.
Here are some highlights (or, as the case may be, lowlights):
1. Agent Ryan Tollner claims that Roethlisbeger has gotten the message. "[H]e's a good person who doesn't want to be remembered as the kind of guy who's being presented to the public right now," Tollner said.
2. In 2006, several months after Roethlisberger had suffered serious injuries due to riding a motorcycle without a helmet and then vowed to always wear a helmet in the future, KDKA-TV captured images of him riding a motorcycle without a helmet. He shot a middle finger to the camera as he drove away. The story never aired, possibly due to concerns that it would have disrupted the station's relationship with the Steelers. (KDKA broadcasts the team's preseason games, and also is the local CBS affiliate.)
3. Accounts of Roethlisberger's "Do you know who I am?" attitude arose repeatedly during the visit by Sports Illustrated writers to Pittsburgh.
4. A source close to Roethlisberger said that his goal with the alleged victim in Milledgeville wasn't intercourse but "Clinton sex." (Please, enjoy your breakfast.)
5. The police officer who resigned in the wake of the Milledgeville incident, Jerry Blash, has a sign in his carport that reads "RESERVED PIMP PARKING. HO'S IN BACK." (We're far more offended by the fact that it's not funny at all.)
6. A person named "Craig" told SI that, a few weeks before the Milledgeville incident, he overheard Roethlisberger making lewd comments to a pregnant waitress at a T.G.I.Friday's restaurant. "Did your boyfriend forget to pull out?" were among the things Roethlisberger allegedly said.
7. Roethlisberger held a party on the one-year anniversary of his motorcycle accident, and his behavior resulted in Roethlisberger being required in the future to pay the $5 cover charge at the bar, which thereafter prompted a call from a Steelers security official asking why Ben had been banned. The owner of the bar said that Roethlisberger hasn't been banned but also said, "Tell him he's an arrogant *******, and every Steeler can get in without a cover except him."
8. An unnamed friend of Roethlisberger's said that, when they are out together, the friend feels obligated to apologize to waiters and bartenders for Ben's behavior. The friend has never witnessed sexual impropriety, but he has seen Ben "disrespect" women.
9. I've long believed that words and actions during playground basketball games are one of the biggest indicators of a guy's true character. So this observation from the unnamed friend struck a chord: "He is embarrassed by Roethlisberger's pettiness and immaturity during pickup basketball games -- he says Big Ben will whine about team selection, talk mean-spirited trash and flex his biceps when he makes a good play."
10. Teammate Willie Colon, who was with Roethlisberger on the fateful night in Milledgeville, had this to say about the situation. "The fans have a right to be upset," he said. "They buy tickets to support us. Remember that Ben is a human being, and human beings make mistakes. Hopefully he learns from his and moves on."
We recommend reading the entire article, along with additional info from David Epstein, which eventually will be posted at SI.com.

Kthx.
It looks like you've mixed up the 2 accusations. The girl whose currently sueing him claims that he assaulted her in his hotel bedroom when she went in to check on his TV. No alcohol or bodyguards involved.
