Thats a valid question. Kind of reminds me of Arik Armstead's career in general. His stats weren't earth shattering but he did a lot of things to free others up and was very very important piece to a great defense.

Agree that's the question…. I'm not comparing him to these players but guys like Jason Pierre-Paul, Ezekiel Ansah, Danielle Hunter, Chandler Jones etc were guys that were regarded as traits/measurable freaks, but didn't produce a ton in college.

I think 11 is too high but I wouldn't be upset taking him in a trade down situation. There's a lot to work with there.

The Niners have very little room for error in this draft. Nor do they have room for error in FA. If they are looking at a Super Bowl run.
The needs on this team are conducive to their FQB being able to stand up and throw the ball while he is in the pocket. Being able to stop the run AND getting pressure on and getting to the QB for the DL is imperative for success. Kyle must catch up with the DC's who believe they have caught up to him. This is an important draft because it is NOW. Doesn't matter what positions are plentiful in this draft. There has to be hits on at least 60% of the picks, which is possible.

How has Walter Nolan been in the practices? Keep hearing he'd been meh and some say he's been solid.

Just draft good players and it will all fix itself. Don't reach for need.

Yeah I agree he's had moments but from what's I've been able to see/read is hasn't been super consistent.

He plays way out of control. Leads to good and bad outcomes.

Very similar to Kinlaw. Athletic freak that looks like Tarzan but game results like Jane. Same problem: pad level pad level PAD LEVEL! He has a lot more to work with than Kinlaw though IMO; but he WILL get washed out of a lot of plays in the league if he doesn't correct that. No way I take him at #11 but I both wouldn't be mad if they traded down and took him and I also expect them to take him at 11 just like they took Kinlaw who I didn't want lol

Pad level at his size is always gonna be harder for him than other guys while playing off the edge.

I don't even see that as some massive issue, it's his hand usage and not using his length consistently. He's gotta learn to finish. He needs a good DL coach/work on his craft.

There's plenty of DL that didn't have elite stats that turned into damn good pass rushers. I'm not saying he will be one of those guys, but you can see a pathway to him being pretty good. I wouldn't take him at 11 either.
Kinlaw had bad knees and it's hurt his development since he got here.
