Right! You can find legit top end talent at literally every other position besides QB in rd 2 and beyond.

but we got fans to tight to give up a couple what if picks to change the franchise for a decade...if this FOs truly doesn't like any of these QB fine, I just don't believe that though.

Trade back and take him in the 1st round. There's your first round qb

But trading up for QBs is bad around here...have you not been paying attend? Even worse giving up picks for a 2nd tier QB on top of it. Didn't we already do that with Beathard? Lol had to have him!

Lol the Lance thread was on fire after his pro day. Other than the velocity on his power arm, I'd say that Mills' pro day performance was just as impressive. Even DJ was surprised to see the velocity on his deep throws IN the rain.

But I get where you're coming from. Being close to Stanford and literally watching every game, I've been able to see Mills and some of his practices. I really do feel like Shaw held him back.

His arm talent was never an issue from what I saw. People didn't get to see Lance for pretty much a whole yr, so I get the intrigue of getting a live look at him.

I agree his offense held him back a little. I don't hate him, I'm just so done with bypassing the top talent because we're afraid to miss. I'm so tired of going safe and drafting Joe blow in the mid rds. Oh we miss not big deal...well you still don't have a QB. Again.

We finally have a good roster and the right coaching staff that can take on a top talent to make it work.

i haven't truly felt great about my teams QB since Steve freaking young.

Sure, I get your view, but if you compare the fact that guys like Fields and Lance are most likely learning their rookie season, but their traits lead to a potentially elite prospect, why doesn't Mills get that kind of respect? He just proved that he's got elite athleticism when looking at his numbers in the drills. Ran his whole QB script since his off-season coach wasn't in attendance. If you trust our staff to develop these elite traits, isn't that intriguing enough? One can argue that had Mills gotten a full season and stayed healthy, he could be considered a 1st round prospect.

Not at all surprised by his arm strength displayed at his pro day. Working on a mock draft now, and I have his comp as if Carson Palmer had a baby with Sam Bradford who eventually went on to train at Kirk Cousin's QB camp

Injury history is there. Only 11 college starts. Our 5th round comp seems right to me.
It wouldn't surprise me come draft time that Mills get drafted in the second round. I'm sure The buzz will start picking up and teams that missed out on the top 5 QB taken in the top 15 already doing their due diligence. Who are the second tier group? Trask, Mills, Mond? Teams that have aging or no clear number 1 that missed out in the top 5 will start reaching for a QB for the one they like for sure. We already know he was a highly touted prospect coming in to Stanford but it's just unfortunate he got hurt on his time there. But the tools, smarts and athleticism are there. His skillset looks like a match to what Shany is looking for a QB.

I can really see a team like NE or CHI targeting him in the 2nd round.

That's a 1st round pick. Trade back into the 20s

What the hell man I thought this was our good value QB plan now we gotta take him with our first pick lol

Still a 3rd to 4th round prospect to me. In that second tier (draft position wise) of QBs with Trask, Mond, and Newman. I think we see history and 5 QBs go in the top 15, but then a bit of a drought until late second round

So we should take Mills in the first round - will increase his odds of becoming a franchise QB

Yeah, won't surprise me with that. The million dollar question then is IF Shany likes him alot like the way he "reached" for Beathard, how high will he reach for him or any other QB if he missed out on the one he coveted from the top 5 QB?

We all know how aggressive Lynch is with trading all around the middle rounds. I wouldn't be surprised to see him trade into the late 2nd or early 3rd and possibly target Mills.

Yeah, this draft will be interesting as usual if he misses out on one of the top QB and anything can happen with our pick 12...take best available or trade down and accumulate more picks. Trader John and Shany are shaping this team up nicely for another deep playoff run for sure but also solidifying our roster depth and developing a QB that has potential to be a starter.
