Davis Mills deserves the hype after today's pro day. Similar to how all of social media was drooling for Lance after his, despite missing 8 passes, I believe. Mills was VERY impressive. Athletically, tested very well. Health looks 100% with no knee brace despite the weather. Called his own plays/script. Threw VERY well in the rain. Only saw one miss he had, but just looked extremely comfortable, feet and mechanics looked so smooth.

Also mentioned that he has been training with Mac over in Mobile. I'm sure the competitive nature there has helped him during his off-season training.

That health looks 100% with no knee brace was the best sight of his pro day IMO. I would take Mills on day 2 all day before taking Mac with #12.
I'm surprised he was only 217 lbs because he looks pretty damn big on tape. Maybe he cut weight for the 40. Dude is clearly built well. There's no pudgy stoner belly under there like Mac.

Damn, throwing it back to Stanzi! Sh*t, you might as well mention Erik Ainge, too!

Lmfao I was jn the standing hype train! I mean I hope I'm wrong with mills if we get him, but I grow weary over hyping qbs up thats not a 1st rround. It rarely works.

invest in a legit QB that has a chance to be great.

I'm right there with you. If it were up to me I'm shooting for the stars and trading up for Lance or Fields. Mills would only be my hope if that doesn't happen and because I want something more interesting than a QB room with Jimmy, Flacco and Rosen

If they're not willing to get a high end QB prospect I'd rather pass on the position all together this yr.

Lol I pictured you saying this sitting alone in the rain because you missed the bus.

Come on, bro. You miss out on a 1st round QB, the team should definitely look at a prospect like Mills. Just like you had been saying with guys like Fields/Lance, prospects with some elite traits that you trust our coaching staff can really develop. As far as intriguing traits, someone like Mills is up there. He won't start year 1 obviously, but you saw his command in today's pro day. His arm and accuracy looked fantastic.

How do you know he isnt a legit QB with a chance to be great? Im guessing they said that about Brady, Brees, Montana, etc etc etc. He has the qualities to become a very good player. Sadly he has had injuries that have held him back but without those he might be considered a top of the 1st round talent.
Davis mills crushed his pro day workout today and I bet lynch and shanahan were impressed. David Shaw probably held this kids talent back a little bit with his offense and coaching and this kid has all the talent he just needs to stay healthy and put it all together. I won't be the least surprised if the niners draft this kid in the 3rd round. I just don't see the niners drafting a Qb in the 1st round.

Not me. What happens if Jimmy gets hurt again or stinks it up to put an exclamation point of us not moving forward with him? Flacco for sure isn't the future and Rosen is an unknown at best right now. Need something in the pipeline and this kid has a lot to work with. If we can spend a 4th round pick on a freaking Punter I got no problems throwing day 2 darts at QB with potential

Agree, very good points!

Nope not at all...I'm done with the mid level "developmental" QB BS. That's all.

pretending like you actually did something at QB with more mid level guys? Acting like THATS the future of this team? Come on dude. Enough. i

also show me a guy who has a bad pro-day lol. Literally happened once.

Lol the Lance thread was on fire after his pro day. Other than the velocity on his power arm, I'd say that Mills' pro day performance was just as impressive. Even DJ was surprised to see the velocity on his deep throws IN the rain.

But I get where you're coming from. Being close to Stanford and literally watching every game, I've been able to see Mills and some of his practices. I really do feel like Shaw held him back.

So like CJ beathard? Or the countless other mid level QBs this team has spent on for like two decades?

10% chance he becomes a meaningful starter and more then likely it's just a waste of a draft pick. Again. Spend that s**t on a position that actually has a legit chance to hit...I'd rather spend it on a punter, who's got a better chance at starting and being good at that pt.

if Jimmy gets hurt, who cares? the season is done more then likely unless you have a legit top end talent back there...he gets hurt and they have Flacco or some 3rd tier rookie back there, then that's this teams own fault and there should be repercussions imo.

enough with the mid level QBs. I don't understand how people would be satisfied with that...again and again? It's part of the damn reason we're still talking about QB.

what was there 2 QBs not drafted in the 1st rd that were in the playoffs this yr? Those guys were Brady and Brees lol. Let's stop pretending like we're smarter than every single team that actually has to invest in fhe QB position.

2 out of 96 QBs drafted after R1 since 2011 draft have become franchise QBs. Wilson and Prescott. If you want argue Cousins and Carr, there's 4.

Day 2 is ripe with CBS, TEs, WRs, and IOL, that would actually contribute.

His arm talent was never an issue from what I saw. People didn't get to see Lance for pretty much a whole yr, so I get the intrigue of getting a live look at him.

I agree his offense held him back a little. I don't hate him, I'm just so done with bypassing the top talent because we're afraid to miss. I'm so tired of going safe and drafting Joe blow in the mid rds. Oh we miss not big deal...well you still don't have a QB. Again.

We finally have a good roster and the right coaching staff that can take on a top talent to make it work.

i haven't truly felt great about my teams QB since Steve freaking young.
Trade back and take him in the 1st round. There's your first round qb
