I agree edge is number one priority to address, hopefully they sign a good one in free agency so they can draft him.

If they can sign a top tier edge rusher, then it makes our first pick that much more interesting. I still see a top-10 finish. We could go with a corner or even trade down (then back up) to get a corner and Fant.

I think whether Fant or someone else, upgrades at TE are absolutely a necessity. Time to move on from Celek.

Definitely. He's hit his ceiling. You could argue that he's actually on the downside of his career.
Had another good game this week with another touchdown catch.

With major needs at edge and OT, not to mention OG, I can't see us taking a tight end with either of the first two picks.

Can still draft OTs and OGs on day 2.

Edge rushers? Starting OT?

Don't need a starting OT in 2019. Yes I think you can get a starting OT in the 2nd if they have a year to sit and learn.

Obviously pass rusher would need to be addressed in FA to take Fant.

We don't? Joe Staley been in touch with you?

My view is, the 1st rounder is set aside for an edge rusher. No argument here, I suspect! We are going to need a starting OT soon, maybe 2019 or 2020. Either way we need to invest an early pick here soon. Like next spring. So TE, wide receiver, db, ilb and whatever needs to wait until those needs are filled.

Joe isn't retiring this year. Has one more year on his deal. I bet they sign him to another year extension as well.

Do need to address OT going forward. It doesn't HAVE to be with a 2019 1st. Can't prioritize positional need so highly that you ignore value.
All the Iowa guys we can get!

Well, if you are wrong we are screwed next year. By the way, I thought I was clear. Edge rusher with the 1st. OT with the 2nd. Right now I dont care about value. Our need at edge over rides all over factors such as value. And a replacement for Joe Staley is nearly as important. I want to see Garoppolo alive at the end of a season.

TEs grow on trees... no need to take them in the 1st round...

They will get all the stats in the world, but they will never get any team to the SB..

Pretty much agree, we aren't in position to be drafting a TE in the 1st.

Not with our first. A trade up if he's available near the bottom of the first. I'm think on offense if we can sign a veteran guard to start on the left side, add another deep threat so we aren't so dependent on Goodwin + a healthy Jimmy + a healthy McKinnon + Fant (some size), and we could be legit on offense. We were already putting up points at a pretty decent clip. After that, just load up on defense. We need starters and backups.
